Rated 5 out of 5 by from This food gave my dog his spirit back It wasn't long after our bully-pit came to live with us he started showing signs of distress. He would go days without activity or eating. His poo stank awful and we started having to take him to the vet for ibs. Trying many different options of food that some helped but didnt fix his tummy aches. Then we found taste of the wild that stated it had prebiotics that was vet recommended and almost immediately he got healthier, happier, and free from the distress. Most definitely his coat was shinier and softer and he was having healthy easy bowl movements. His energy went through the roof and taste of the wild just made everything better including our wallet because we less vet visits. I highly recommend this food.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great all around option I got my pit bull mix, Honor, from a shelter a few months ago and I was using a brand of food that I had used for previous dogs. I began noticing Honor had problems with constipation and was losing little patches of hair. I transitioned him to the TOTW wetlands and he's been doing wonderful since. Stools are regular and his coat looks great! I've even noticed that his coat feels less coarse than before. For a grain free dry food with multiple sources of protein, this brand and particularly this formula is comparable to the highest rated on the market and is more affordable by far. I chose this particular formula because it has multiple fowl protein but has the ocean fish meal as well. And Honor loves the taste as well. Highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our Dogs Love Taste of the Wild! We rotate between the wetlands and high prairie formulas for our pack of White Swiss Shepherds and little terrier mix rescue pups. All of our dogs do great on Taste of the Wild and LOVE eating both formulas. We feed twice daily and supplement with raw meaty bones, green lamb tripe, and other goodies :) All of our dogs have gorgeous coats, healthy teeth, and tons of energy. Taste of the Wild is an excellent quality food and we couldn't be happier with their products!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just what DR ordered We have been feeding Taste of the Wild formulas since our Lab mix Nyk was 8 months old . In 2017 at 4 yrs old he was diagnosed with a Mass Cell Tumour. Along with medical treatment it was suggested we put him on a cancer fighting diet. The key was to find a high quality grain free food with as high a protein to carb ratio as possible to use as the base of his new diet. We researched and considered dozens of foods looking at reviews, testing, and ingredients. Wetlands Canine from Taste of The Wild is a perfect choice for us because of the types and percentage of protein as well as the quality of other ingredients. And Nyk LOVES it. Now age 5 he's happy and healthy and can't wait for his meals with Wetlands Canine. In fact he sneaks a taste every time we open a new bag!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This food saved my dog with IBD Havoc bag been sick for many years with minimal luck. After a diagnosis of IBD in 2020, our vet put him on a low fat EN formula, with minimal help to his poor stomach. Several months later on the new food, he was still vomiting regularly and couldn't keep food down. A friend recommended your formula to me, and at this point I was desperate to try anything. Not only did he eat it right away (a large feat), he didn't "grow tired" of it and stop eating it after a few days! His anorexia subsided, we got him on a regular feeding schedule, and his pancreatic episodes have been significantly reduced! Thank you! Thank you!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My German Shepherd (Jem) Loves Taste of the Wild! I had Jem on another very expensive food, she stopped eating it after being sick out of the blue, even her Vet couldn't figure out why. I switched to Taste of the Wild-Roasted Foul (Grain Free) after some research, she started to eat again right away, her energy level doubled, and her coat was shinier than ever! Her fecal matter is solid, she runs with "the pack" at the dog park for what seems to be forever, her spirit is great, and she looks forward to her meals as well as her treat ball that I also load with her Taste of the Wild kibbel. I'm so happy that I made the switch!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My dog's top favorite brand and flavor Jago started out with the boar as a 1 year old and has loooved it ever since. I have gotten him other flavors and he looks at it and grunts and so I have to give whatever flavor I purchased him to the other animals in my house to eat anything and get him the boar. He loves that one but has also fallen deeply in love with fowl. He can't choose which he loves the most. He is currently on his. 3ird bag of the fowl. These are the only two he will eat he will not eat any other flavor he's the most pickiest German Shepherd Of My Life whatever makes him happy I guess I recommend this brand and this flavor 10 out of 10 to anyone who has a very picky animal it's very easy on their stomach helps bowl movements definitely keep the energy up and helps him sleep at night. It's pretty pricey but honestly I just want the best for my pup so I'll pay whatever for the best because he deserves it

Hello and thanks for reaching out. We’re sorry to hear about your furry friend’s UTI. In dogs, the majority of UTIs are caused by bacteria which travel from the urethral opening up to the bladder. We recommend consulting your veterinarian for appropriate treatment and advice.

One last question! When you switch between flavors, do you have to transition to the new flavor or since they are from the same manufacturer, can you just switch them right out? Thanks!

Asked by: myers8710
Hello, thanks for your questions. We do recommend going through a gradual transition over 7-10 days, as some puppies/dogs have sensitive stomachs. You can do this by starting with 25% of the recommended feeding portion of the new food mixed with 75% of the recommended portion of the current diet for 2-3 days, then 50% of each for 2-3 days, and then 75% of the new with 25% of the current for 2-3 days, before feeding entirely the new food.

I have a 9 yr old boxer & would like to mix the canned and dry formulas in the Wetlands product. She weighs about 55 pounds - what would the ratio be for dry food if I were to feed 1 can per day. Some brands offer a scale but I cannot find one for this.

Asked by: boxermom
Boxermom, when mixing dry and canned food, they should be added together to equal the total calorie recommendation. A 55 lb dog would need close to 3 cups of dry food per day. One can of food would take the place of a little less than a cup of the dry food. We recommend trying 1 can of food and 2 cups of dry food for your dog.

Which one of your grain free dry dog foods would you recommend if I thought my dog’s sugar is running high. Preferably without chicken

Asked by: Rodney
Hello, and thanks for reaching out! If you are concerned about your dog’s blood sugar, we recommend contacting your veterinarian about the best diet for your dog, based on their needs. If you're interested in a recipe that does not contain chicken meat or chicken meal, our Pine Forest, Appalachian Valley, Pacific Stream, Sierra Mountain and Southwest Canyon canine recipes may be good options for your dog. Please know, our recipes are produced in a facility that manufactures products with other ingredients, such as chicken meat and chicken meal. While it is unlikely, a trace amount of those ingredients may be present. If you have any additional questions, please contact us by visiting https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/contact-us/.

Can you please explain what the natural flavoring and egg product is made from in your ingredients?

Asked by: Carrol
Hello, thanks for reaching out! Natural flavoring is an ingredient added for enhanced palatability and an extra-tasty meaty flavor in your pet's food. It's made from hydrolyzed chicken, which means that the protein is broken down into small particles that are less likely to be recognized by the immune system in a pet with food allergies. It does not contain MSG. Additionally, we purchase dried egg product to use as a quality source of protein for many of our foods. It is made from whole eggs with the shells removed. Eggs are considered to be one of the best and most complete protein sources available. If you have any additional questions, please contact our product specialist by visiting https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/contact-us.

Is there a formula you would recommend for a senior dog (14 1/2) about 45lbs with a very thick coat?

Asked by: ItismyHonor
Hello, our Wetlands Canine Formula is a great maintenance formula for high-energy active dogs. The unique blend of proteins provides amino acids that are important for a shiny coat. If your senior dog isn’t quite as active as they once were, we recommend our Sierra Mountain Formula because of the lower calorie content. This formula contains omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids which help maintain a healthy skin and a shiny coat.

would this be a good choice for my 7 year old bulldog with allergies

Asked by: kevin
Hi, Kevin. Although allergies in dogs are common, allergies to food only account for about 20% or less of all allergy cases. Allergies to environmental triggers (pollens, molds, house dust mites, etc.) and fleas are more prevalent and many dogs have a combination of allergy triggers. However, we do have two Taste of the Wild formulas which we recommend for dogs with food allergies, due to their limited protein sources: Pacific Stream Canine Formula and Sierra Mountain Canine Formula. In addition to our Pacific Stream and Sierra Mountain Formulas, we would also recommend you try our new limited ingredient diet, Taste of the Wild PREY. Our PREY formulas can be great options for pets with allergies due to their limited ingredients. Each formula contains no more than four key ingredients (one animal protein source, sunflower oil, tomato pomace and lentils). PREY’s simple and straightforward approach can help parents avoid or determine the cause of allergies. Please note, we always recommend working with your veterinarian to determine the cause of your dog’s allergies. I am looking for a dry food to feed both a Italian mastiff puppy (12 weeks) and an adult St. Bernard.

Asked by: Chris
Hi Chris. We would recommend feeding an all life stages diet – one that is suitable for puppies and adult dogs. Wetlands Canine Formula is a maintenance diet, and is formulated for adult dogs, but we have several formulas that are all life stages. Pine Forest with Venison and Legumes, Sierra Mountain with Roasted Lamb, Southwest Canyon with Wild Boar, Pacific Stream Puppy with Smoked Salmon and High Prairie Puppy with Roasted Bison and Roasted Venison are all options that would meet the needs of both of your dogs.

My dog (a labradoodle) may be allergic to chicken. I have been feeding her 'wetlands formula dry dog food' but see it contains some chicken/products. What would be a chicken-free alternative?

Hi Robert. If you’d like to switch to a chicken-free formula, we have several options for you to choose from. Pine Forest, Southwest Canyon, Sierra Mountain and Pacific Stream are all formulas suitable for adult dogs (like Wetlands) and do not contain chicken.
