Rated 5 out of 5 by from My girls favorite! I’ve been feeding taste of the wild for about 5 years now, my girls are super picky and couldn’t tolerate many other foods I’ve gotten them. Finally I found TOTW and since then have had the best results with their skin and digestion.... and they love it!!! Reasonably priced for a good quality food as well. I always recommend to others when I get the chance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our dogs have eaten this for years ! We have been feeding our dogs ToTW bison and venison for years. First the grain free formula and then we switched to the Ancient grain recipe. They always clean their bowl so it must taste great! They never seem to get tired of it. It’s high in protein (32%) to help support bones, joints and lean muscles. I trust this brand and the food is made in the USA. I think the price point is good for a 28 pound bag which lasts my 2 dogs a month.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Has Fewest Side Effects for Thurston Thurston, my 6+ year old English Bulldog, has a history of problems caused by any number of things. In researching the best food for my little (or not so little) guy, I found this formula among the highest rated. It has proven to be an excellent choice for him as he has had the fewest issues since starting to eat High Prairie dry about a year ago. Rest assured that he won't be changing food again. It doesn't hurt that he also loves it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My husky loved it she wouldn't eat anything else! When my husband and I adopted a beautiful seal mark husky she was being fed this food. She wouldn't eat anything else. It seemed to help her with the seizures that came with her brain cancer and she kept a healthy weight while on the food. We put our next rescue dog on this food as well but had to switch to the wetlands formula. It helped him gain not only weight but muscle mass as well. I would feed this to my current dogs if the price was a little lower because I love the fact that it's grain free and it's good for the dogs

Rated 5 out of 5 by from TOTW is hands down the BEST! I have been feeding Taste of the Wild High Prairie formula for over 4 year and it is ALL my dogs will eat. They turn their nose up to other competitive food! Including name brands such as Merrick, Natural Balance, and Blue Buffalo (and that’s pretty hard to do). My dogs also have grain allergies and this is by far the best formula for them. My puppets ALWAYS get compliments about how shiny their coats are and how healthy their bodies are and I can say without a doubt - it is all because of Taste of the Wild. Highly recommend!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great ingredients. Great dog food. I prefer to feed my dogs high quality kibble and homemade and often feed venison. I like TOTW bison and venison because of it's ingredients and the fact that my dogs love the taste. Also, I can feed TOTW and not worry about the constant recalls, knowing that this is a quality product.

Our chow call is "You want to eat?" and they come running with tales waging. We compete in Dogsports and feel this food has contributed to our ability to condition our dogs in an Outstanding manner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only brand she gets excited for! My dog Gracie seemed to be very brand picky. When I adopted her, the family was feeding her Aldi store brand food. I switched her to Nutro Ultra thinking it was a considerable step up and she got horrible diarrhea. From there we went to Merrick, which she was never excited for, then to Whole Earth Farms as a cheaper alternative, but her stool was never right. I even tried Canidae, Fromm, and grain based Merrick; nothing seemed to interest her. After a lot of review online I decided to try TOTW. She absolutely loved the High Prairie formula and her stool went back to normal. I tried the Southwest Canyon formula and she wasn't too big on it. When I contacted customer service to ask about returning it, I also asked for samples to see what else Gracie would like. I got a box with eight sample bags for her to try. I was even able to give half of the samples to a neighbor who now feeds their Golden Retriever TOTW. Since then I have found Gracie likes the Wetlands formula as well so I rotate every bag. It seems to keep her and my wallet very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My 12 year old LOVES it My dog Dakota will only eat the High Prairie Canine Formula. He is 12 and has been eating it for about 6 years. We had been feeding popular store brands, and our older dog developed Diabetes, and we searched for some grain free options. I found this and the dogs loved it! We did lose our diabetic dog when she was 10, but my 12 year old, he is active and many are shocked when I tell them how old he is. We had one instance where we were out of his brand, I had another brand of sample size food in my pantry and gave it to him, later that night, he developed bloat and torsion, he almost died, a few thousand dollars later, he will NEVER eat another brand. I wish he would accept the other flavors, I have tried , but he loves his Bison and Venison, and as long as he is happy!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best food we have found We started our dogs out on some other brands and found this one after looking for something healthier. Our dogs are a great dane and a dane/pit mix. After a couple of months we noticed the dogs coats are way thicker and healthier. The dogs have plenty of energy. I honestly can't say enough good things about this dog food. Compared to other high quality brands, Taste of the Wild is much more cost effective.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They nearly knock us over to get the bag! Lol We had been feeding our two labs a different brand of food and then we got a puppy who would absolutely not eat the food! We switched varieties of that same brand and he still turned up his nose. We made the switch to taste of the wild after some research to be sure it was super high quality (which it is!) We wanted to go with an even better option than the previous brand we were buying. The ingredients list is quite impressive! I'm happy to report the puppy and his older siblings LOVED this food! He went from turning up his nose of the old brand to nearly inhaling his taste of the wild! When they see us walk in with the bug yellow bag they almost knock us over lol bc they know we have the good stuff!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from We have two inside dogs and they fight over it!!!! I have been feeding our Yorkie and rescue Poodle Taste of the Wild for 3 years. I am always complimented on how beautiful their coat is. Not only has it helped their coat their digestion process has improved. No more cleaning up loose stools and vomit!!! This is the best food for my babies! I have told all my family and friends about how great this food is. My boss’ wife who always fed her dogs Purina One is now feeding her 3 outside dogs Taste of the Wild and said that she won’t buy anything else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beautiful Healthy Dogs! We have been feeding Taste of the Wild High Prairie canine formula for a year now. After trying many different brands and formulas, we found this to be the best fit for our Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Many people have asked what we do to have such healthy coats. My answer is always, "It's TOTW High Prairie". We also have great success with the puppy formula for the first 15 months of life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Taste Of The Wild Pet Food This is the only puppy/dog food we will give to our pets. We have a german shepherd not quite a year old that is diabetic and Taste Of The Wild brand was the only one that he could eat without getting sick and it agrees with him- and he loves the taste. My pomeranian gets the small breed formula and loves it too. More healthier & natural ingredients- purified water and grain free.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My Dog has never looked better!!! Have a Shih Tzu and a ??? and the Shih Tzu had terrible skin allergies. Switched her to grain free, Taste of the Wild and she cleared right up. No more hot spots, no more bald patches, and most important no more itching. She’s healthy, happy & beautiful again. Both dogs love the flavor because they don’t leave a kibble in the bowl. Will be watching for the new flavors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I’ll never switch away from TOTW My dogs both ate this food for 3 years, one was a growing Doberman and one was an aging carin terrier. The Doberman, Ryka still eats it and flourishs on it (our Cairn has passed now). I learned my lesson the hard way- I’m disabled and I thought I could try to cut a little bit of spending using less for all my monthly dog stuff- including buying TOTW, I know I’m dumb for that, but this disabled life makes you cut some corners. Due to my misjudgment my girl was suffering on the other food- no energy, she gained so much weight, her shining coat turned dull and dandruff filled, and when we did get her off the couch to play she wouldn’t make it 20 minutes- she’s regularly an energy filled 3 y/o Doberman who can go 50 mins and beg for more playtime later. Took her to the vet and she had gained 8 lbs over her usual weight and she hadn’t finished even half of the other food yet- So that other brand got trashed and TOTW reigns supreme in our household forever more- my girl’s energy came back, her coat is always sleek and shining, and she has all the fuel she needs for whatever I ask of her. She was on this recipe (High Prarie) for a long time, but she’s tried all of them- I think this and Pacific Stream are her absolute favorites. She’s pictured with a bag of Pine Forrest because it’s the last recipe she needed to taste test- now she’s officially tried all the regular ones- maybe she’ll have to try the Prey varieties! We live in Missouri too- so Ryka definitely wants to become a TOTW taste tester when she grows up!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My picky eater loves this food! I wanted a high protein, grain free dog food, and have tried other pricier brands, but my Boxer would just sniff and walk away. My pet feed store told me about TOTW High Praire, and gave it a try! My boxer loves it! I get a lot of compliments how shiny and soft his coat is, asking me what I feed him! I love sharing its TOTW High Praire

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for skin issues! This food changed my dog’s life. He had really bad skin allergies. I tried everything. He wouldn’t sleep because he spent all day scratching. This food provided relief. No grain, no poultry. Perfect for him. His rash used to be so bad, it bled. Now with high prairie and a medicated shampoo, life is back to normal. Highly recommend it! Zuko has not eaten anything else in 5 years. Our other Australians Shepherd, Hiro eats it too. Look no further, you’ve found the best food there is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Healthy food, healthy happy dog When we adopted our dog 10 years ago he was skin and bone and wouldn’t eat.  We put him on this food because he liked it and it’s healthy with quality ingredients. We mix-in raw meat or chicken broth for variety. He’s about 12 now, loves this food and he’s healthy and active, there’s nothing more I could ever ask for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Three HAPPY healthy hounds! Started my three pups on this about 3 weeks ago. Bright eyes, shiny coats, less shedding, less itching, and more energy than normal! They love it! They're "sampling" the other varieties as well. They like to eat bites as treats! Me and my fur kids are more than thrilled with your product! Keep up the good work!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made the switch... ... From a leading brand of dog food after our lab mix would chronically throw up undigested food, which meant he would eat constantly, and throw up constantly. Bought 5 different bags of "grain free" dog food from the pet store and this was the first and last bag we opened he loved it from the start! Since feeding him this food he's not thrown up once and since it's more nutritionally dense than the other brand he eats less and a bag of this food lasts a lot longer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An overall quality choice for healthy dogs! As a K9 Trainer and limited Breeder of German Shepherds, I spent nearly 2 years experimenting and trying different dry foods in our facility. I needed a healthy food, yet one that the dogs enjoyed eating. I found Taste of The Wild on a recommendation from another breeder, tried it for 6 weeks in 2011 and it has become our In-House recommendation to anyone that will listen. My adult dogs all eat the High Prairie Bison, (thus this review) but we occasionally will try a different flavor for variety's sake. The dogs always choose the bison when confronted with the choice first. My veterinarian has always marveled at the condition of my dogs, including their skin, coats, and muscle tone. I attribute this to what I feed. I look forward to continuing this reputation on my dogs, so TOTW stays in our food locker for good!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Full of chickpeas and legumes I've fed Taste of the Wild off and of for several years. Not bad for the price but it's full of peas/legumes. Soy is a legume and not good for dogs. Why would you add chickpeas? Just more filler.i hate that almost ALL food is full of peas now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sports Dogs score on Taste of the Wild! I have four dogs who compete, and perform in shows and demos of canine disc. Because I feed them Taste of the Wild I never have to worry about their energy level, or their physical health when performing. They are always alert, "revved up", and ready to go when we take the field!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Both of my pups love this food. I started feeding my dogs this food when I found out that it was very high quality food made in the USA. I've had a dog with cancer, and that was back when I still fed Purina 1 and various other "grocery store" brands. My dog's coats are shiny and they are healthy and happy.

I saw this study linked to grain free food. What is the legume content in your food?  They are listed in the first 5 ingredients.  https://www.facebook.com/TVOlivia/videos/320378325205221/

Asked by: Devin
Hello and thanks for reaching out. As you saw, the FDA is investigating a previously unknown but potential link between a condition called DCM, or dilated cardiomyopathy, and dog foods containing peas and potatoes as main ingredients (primarily grain-free). Because taurine deficiency can be associated with DCM, a possible link between diet and the diagnosis is being explored. Taurine has not been recognized as an essential ingredient in dog food. All formulas produced by Taste of the Wild, including High Prairie Canine, are supplemented with taurine. Please know, we select all of our ingredients with the health and well-being of pets in mind, so peas and potatoes are included as they are a great source of protein, fiber and antioxidants. Our priority is to provide all pets with quality, safe food that meets all federal and state regulatory guidelines. We want to assure you that our #1 priority is the health and safety of all pets. A member of our veterinary team would be more than happy to help answer any additional questions you might have. Please give us a call at 1-800-342-4808 (8 a.m. - 5 p.m. CT weekdays).
