Pacific Stream Canine Recipe with Smoke-Flavored Salmon is rated out of 5 by 194.Rated 5 out of 5 by Carolyn from Taste of The Wild I have been feeding Taste of The Wild for nine years now to both my Long Haired Chihuahuas and my Min Pins, with out a doubt it is the best food I have ever been able to buy they have thrived on it. There coats are beautiful and since I mix the food using the salmon as a base and then another flavor, I have been able to cut out the omega 3 suppliment I used to add as they get enought through the food. It upsets me to see the negitive comments that seem to fly around right now saying this is the food that is causing problems. I will continue to feed my dogs Taste of the Wild with no hesitation that they are getting the best diet available out there.Date published: 2017-07-31Rated 4 out of 5 by JeK9 from German Shepard TOTW 3 years now We switched to TOTW Salmon 3 years ago for our GSD when he was about 3 yrs old (he was having bad stools (mushy) and his coat was not shiny and itched all the time. After going on TOTW Salmon based product - his stools improved significantly and shiny coat + less itching... but since the recent indigence change we noticed that the stools are bigger/looser. His coat is still nice and itching about the same... so it would be 5 stars if ingredients remained the same. We might start examining other products to see if his stools improve...Date published: 2017-02-25Rated 5 out of 5 by SHANNON from Still Loving it After All These Years Our Weimaraner has been eating Pacific Stream for about 8 years now. He still gets excited daily when it’s time to eat. You would think he would get tired of the same food day after day but not my boy. He loves it! I dog sit often in my home & they don’t want their food when they’re here. They smell his and refuse to eat theirs, lol. I end up mixing some of his in theirs to make them happy. Your food has kept his coat shiny & skin allergy free. Not to mention healthy stools. He breaks out with bumps if he eats other brands, like the dogs we sit for. Thank you for making a quality dog food for our boy Gunner.Date published: 2018-04-22Rated 5 out of 5 by DF07 from Great kibble solution!! Our handsome Chocolate Labrador is not a picky eater and loves just about all foods; However, his sensitive stomach is quite particular. We set out to change food because he was getting repetitive ear infections, his skin was itchy and he was constantly shedding as though it was always summer. We were so relieved at how easily his tummy transitioned to TOW Pacific Stream, without any soft stools. Since switching, ear infections and itchy skin is a thing of the past, and his coat looks fantastic!! Although we have had the Mini Australian Shepherd (the pickier eater) on a small breed food with no sensitivity issues... but once we introduced the TOW Pacific Stream, she eats out of the big guy’s dish and leaves her kibble ~ lol. I highly recommend this food!Date published: 2019-03-15Rated 5 out of 5 by Benny from Best food for Wheaten Terriers We have owned three Wheaten's over the past 35 years and our first two unfortunately did not dine on Taste of the Wild. They both had skin allergies and were always at the vet. Our third dog Bogey dines only on TOTW Pacific Stream and its unbelievable what a difference it has made. No skin problems, tons of energy, great teeth and as healthy as can be ! He is 2/12 years old and loves his Taste of the Wild !!Date published: 2016-09-27Rated 1 out of 5 by Biffy from Stop with adding pea protein A few years back I researched a lot of foods to find one my dogs could eat, due to numerous food allergies. I chose pacific salmon formula. However, over the last year, I have noticed facial itching and ear infections again and could not figure out why. Now I know. The formula was changed and peas were added. Now it is back to the drawing board. At least Other brands had the decency to put a large call out on their food when they changed formulas and added peas. Can't feed taste of the wild anymore.Date published: 2017-02-05Rated 5 out of 5 by MDLines from 2 Great Danes - They love this food! We own 2 Great Danes, they have been eating The Taste of the Wild Salmon Dry Dog food for 4 years now. First started our Male Dane on TOTW when he was a puppy and had puppy acne. The Quality of the food helped to clear up his acne and balance his diet. He has been eating it ever since. Our Female Dane has skin allergies and switched her to TOTW and this helped to balance her outbreaks and provide a healthy smooth coat. We had to get her a slow eating blow so she wouldn't eat the dog food too fast, safe to say she enjoys the taste! They are both very healthy, strong, and fit dogs.Date published: 2017-06-15Rated 5 out of 5 by DRCinBethel from HEALTHY DOGS thanks to this food Our three dogs have been fed only this food every day for over five years, plus my homemade dog biscuits and baby carrots as treats. That's it. Our vet and our groomer always remark on how gorgeous their coats are, how bright eyed they are and that their overall health is so good. I attribute this to lots of love, exercise and GOOD food from Taste of the Wild.Date published: 2018-04-16I have a 10 year old boxer who was recently diagnosed w pancreatitis. So now I need to find a low fat highly digestible food. Would this be a good food?
Hello and thanks for reaching out! We’re sorry to hear about your dog’s pancreatitis. She is a 6 month old pug and the breeder recommends grain free. We tried Orijen, but it is too harsh on her tummy.
Hello, thanks for contacting us. Our Pacific Stream Canine Recipe is a maintenance diet formulated for adult dogs and does not meet the nutritional needs of puppies. You may want to consider our Pacific Stream Puppy Recipe, as it contains similar ingredients to our Pacific Stream Canine Recipe and it is an All Life Stages recipe, meaning it was developed to meet the nutritional needs of dogs of all ages, from puppies to seniors. If you have any additional questions or would like to receive a personalized recipe recommendation for your dog, feel free to contact us by visiting https://totw.pet/contact-us.Date published: 2022-12-08Does taste of the wild pacific recipe have Taurine supplemented in the food? My dog is on Canidae Pure sea and loves it, but apparently all these grain free, pea protein foods are lacking Taurine and can be a cause of canine heart disease?
Hi, Kimberly and thanks for reaching out. Yes, all Taste of the Wild recipes, including Pacific Stream Canine, are supplemented with Taurine. Currently, there is an investigation into a previously unknown but potential link between a condition called DCM, or dilated cardiomyopathy, and grain-free dog foods. Because taurine deficiency can be associated with DCM, a possible link between diet and the diagnosis is being explored. While no direct links have been made, we recognize taurine as a beneficial supplement and it is included in all TOTW recipes, as previously mentioned. If you have any additional questions, please give us a call. We can be reached at 1-800-342-4808 (8 a.m. - 5 p.m. CT weekdays).Date published: 2018-11-10I am wondering is Taste of the Wild made in the USA?

What exactly is the transition? Does this have to do with the latest information about the bad effects of peas in dog food?
Hello, Bill and thanks for reaching out! Please know there have been no recent changes to our Pacific Stream Canine Recipe. The transition Chewy.com is referring to is the bag size. Previously we offered three recipes in 5-, 14- and 28-pound bags, while eight recipes (dog and cat) were sold in 5-, 15- and 30-pound bags. We have updated all TOTW recipes to 5-, 14- and 28-pound bags to be consistent in our offering. Hello and thanks for reaching out. Each cup of Pacific Stream Canine weighs approximately 100 grams. Additionally, the feeding amount for a 55-pound dog can vary based on his/her age. We recommend starting with the amount listed in the feeding guide printed on the side gusset of the bag. It can also be found by visiting our website https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/dog-formulas/pacific-stream-canine-formula-with-smoked-salmon/. Hello! We are sorry to hear that your dog is experiencing itchiness. Please know, itchiness can be caused by a number of factors, therefore we recommend consulting your veterinarian to determine the cause. We would also be happy to learn more about your furry friend and provide a recipe recommendation. Hello, thanks for contacting us. We don’t provide the full list of ingredient ratios because our recipes are proprietary information. The ingredients are listed in descending order by weight in the recipe. If your dog is allergic to blueberries, we do not recommend feeding him any recipes that contain blueberries. You may want to consider our Taste of the Wild PREY recipes, which could be a great option for pets with allergies due to their limited ingredients. Each recipe contains no more than four key ingredients (one animal protein source, chicken fat, tomato pomace and lentils). For more information about our PREY recipes, please visit: https://totw.pet/taste-of-the-wild-prey. As always, we recommend consulting with your veterinarian to determine the best diet for your dog, based on his needs.Date published: 2023-04-20what is the copper content on a dry matter basis?
15 mg/kg as fed.Date published: 2016-11-02How do the puppy and adult formulas differ? I have a 7 month old Siberian Husky who is allergic to chicken. The Pacific Stream puppy formula is the ONLY food I have found that he can eat. He needs bigger morsels now.
Hello, thanks for reaching out! We’re so glad your pup is enjoying Pacific Stream! Both recipes are grain-free and contain salmon as the primary protein source, supplemented with vegetables and fruits to provide antioxidants. However, Pacific Stream Puppy was developed with the needs of growing puppies in mind so some of the nutrient levels differ from the adult recipe. For large breed dogs like yours, we recommend feeding a puppy or All Life Stages recipe for the first 12-16 months. If you have additional questions about any of our recipes, please contact us by visiting our website https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/#contact-us.Date published: 2018-08-28Why is there a shortage of supply of the Taste of the Wild dog biscuits? Hello, and thanks for reaching out. Copper Sulfate is an inorganic form of copper, an essential mineral for dogs (meaning it must be included in their diet). Copper is involved in many physiological processes including connective tissue development, reproduction, cell membrane integrity, hemoglobin formation, cardiac function and maintenance of coat pigmentation. Please know, our recipes and ingredients meet both Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) and U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards.Date published: 2022-09-10Can you please tell what your targeted PH level is in this product.
Hi, Leonard. We do not add anything to our dog foods to alter the urine pH, therefore we do not measure the pH of the food.Date published: 2017-11-22My vet has recommended that my Aussie get 1050 mg EPA portion of fish oil per day. If she has 2 cups daily of the Pacific Salmon, how much fish oil will she get from the food?
Hello, there are 360 mg of omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil per cup of Pacific Stream, so 2 cups would provide 720 mg per day. We do not have individual values available for EPA and DHA; they are measured together as omega-3 fatty acids.Date published: 2017-03-09I feed this to our Adult Doberman Pinscher. He shines like the suns and is so very healthy. He loves, LOVES this food. My question is this and I am not sure you can answer this. Why is salmon based food so great for this breed?

Hello, and thanks for reaching out! The natural aroma of the ingredients in our recipes can vary slightly and may carry through to the finished product. Please know, we are unable to know if our recipe will affect your dog’s breath and/or odor, as each dog is different. If you have any additional questions, please contact us by visiting https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/#contact-us.Date published: 2020-10-26My pup is 6 yrs old. I just ordered a 28 lb bag of Pacific Stream dry food for him. I inadvertently ordered the puppy food product. Will the food be a problem since he is no longer a puppy? Thank you. KC’s mom
Hello, thanks for contacting us. Our Pacific Stream Puppy Recipe is an All Life Stages recipe, meaning it was developed for dogs of all ages and will meet the nutritional needs of your 6 year old dog. While these two recipes share many of the same ingredients, when possible, we recommend a transition between two different recipes.Date published: 2022-01-28Hi! I've been told that fish dog food makes dogs gain weight. Is that true? We use Wild Boar TOTW & try hard to ensure my dog doesn't get overweight. We would love to change to this for his allergies but are worried fish would make him gain more weight.
Hello, thanks for contacting us! Our Pacific Stream Canine Recipe contains the same fat percentage as our Southwest Canyon Canine Recipe and it also contains the same amount of calories per cup (which means the recommended feeding amounts would be the same). Pacific Stream may be a good choice for your dog, as dogs with food sensitivities often do well on a limited protein source diet. We recommend consulting with your veterinarian to determine the most appropriate diet and feeding amounts for your dog, based on his needs.Date published: 2021-10-12We have been feeding our dogs Pacific Stream kibble for more than 2 years but the bag we just purchased has lentils instead of garbanzo beans. Why the change?
Hello, thank you for being a loyal Taste of the Wild customer. Due to a poor chickpea growing season, we have replaced garbanzo beans with lentils in our Pacific Stream Canine Recipe. Like garbanzo beans, lentils are a superfood packed with protein, fiber, complex carbohydrates and essential nutrients, which keeps your pet’s digestive system regular and healthy. This update should go unnoticed by your pet and does not affect the nutritional value.Date published: 2018-07-06Can I give the adult dry food (with salmon) to a 4 month old puppy, or should I continue puppy food for a few more months?
Hello, we recommend you talk to your veterinarian to determine the best time for your puppy to change formulas. As a general guide, we recommend feeding puppy food until 10-12 months of age. For giant breeds, between 12-18 months of age is a good time to make the transition to adult food.Date published: 2017-04-06
