Rated 5 out of 5 by from Trusted Brand I fed two lab mixes ToTW until the ends of their very healthy and long 16 and 14 yo lives. Transitioned my GSP puppy from the breeder given food. My gal liked the food sent home from the breeder, but was definitely having a dandruff issue until I had her fully transitioned. Her coat is gorgeous and shiny without a flake now! She walks to the food bin sometimes to make sure there’s more for later 😉

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ONLY Food/Formula my Shepherd Can Eat! I adopted a German Shepherd who was in pretty rough shape. She has some bad food sensitivities, though I haven't found out what exactly she is sensitive to. One brand of grain free food after another just made her itchier and more miserable. She will chew sores all over her body and her ears become smelly and infected. After a couple months of cooking for her, I decided to try Taste of the Wild High Prairie Puppy formula. I chose a puppy food because she needed to put on more weight. This is the ONLY food she can eat without tearing herself up. Plus, she LOVES the taste. I made the mistake of buying the High Prairie adult food, and I thought that maybe the ingredients would be the same, just in different amounts for the caloric needs of puppies vs adults. I was VERY wrong. The adult formula has other protein sources added in that the puppy one does not, which are: chicken, chicken fat, eggs, and beef. Within a day of the HP adult formula, she was back to extreme itching. I had also noticed she really didn't want to eat it, which is unusual for her as she is not picky. So if this formula works for you, and you have a sensitive dog, don't assume that the adult formula would work, because the ingredients are pretty different. I now have another rescue Shepherd, and he is also on this food. He was looking pretty rough on day one, but after feeding this for just a day, he woke up perky, alert, no discharge from his eyes! After a few days, his full coat started to shine. My Standard Schnauzer also eats this, and she loves it, though she is not picky! It is pretty pricey to feed to 3 dogs, 2 of which are fairly large, but I don't want to risk cross contamination for my sensitive girl. I definitely recommend this particular formula if you have allergy prone dogs. I recommend taste of the wild as a brand because they have not had any recalls and my dogs have done well on it. Shiny coats, lots of energy, super healthy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dogs love it! One question about the transition For one, my dogs love the puppy formula. My 8 week old GSD is growing rapidly and coat looks great. 12 week old rat terrier same with him and tons of energy. My question is about the terriers stools. We are on day 4 of the transition I’m now to 50% eukabuna and 50% taste of wild. His stools are very soft- Will this subside as he continues to adjust? Thanks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My dog loves his food! I wanted a top quality food when we got our Boxer puppy, that was grain free. After some exhaustive research we decided on Taste of the Wild. We're so glad we did. Our boxer Pow, just turned a year old and after giving him the dry puppy food with a can of food mixed in a few times a week, he's happy, healthy and energetic! I'll never use another dog food!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Puppy loves ❤️ When my spouse and I adopted our puppy, they were feeding him cheap food he kept trying to eat everything all day. We switched his food to Taste of Wild and he stopped chewing on everything he could pick up. He stopped complaining he was hungry all the time. The food keeps he full longer. He doesn't have farts all day long or ones that gas you out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yummy! Our red healer pup loves this food! We also sprinkle a little on our 2 other older dogs food because they said they love it too. Great quality. I do a lot of research before buying dog food as one of my dogs that recently passed away had allergies, so now it's just a habit. We're happy and will continue feeding taste of the wild through adulthood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Two small dogs loving it! I adopted a puppy a year ago and then added another pup half way through the year. At the beginning of the year I considered raw food, but I just needed something more convenient. This food is perfect! The size of the food is so perfect for 2 dogs under 10lbs and their health and digestion always seems great. I always recommend Taste of the Wild!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great reviews had us switch Our 13 week old lab that we brought home at 8 weeks had been eating a high quality Life Stages food and began developing loose and sometimes watery stools. After researching and reading about TOTW large bred puppy food, we switched. Just fed our girl this today, so we’re extremely hopeful we’ll have great results like everyone else.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Picky puppy loves TOTW puppy food Our Border Collie, Blair, has been a bit of a picky eater on her 9 short months and this TOTW recipe is her favorite. At what age should I transition from puppy to adult formula? Thanks, Kevin

Asked by: Kevin
Hi Kevin, thanks for your question. We recommend you work with your veterinarian to determine the right time to transition your pet. As a general guide, we recommend feeding puppy food until 10-12 months of age. For giant breeds, between 12-18 months of age is a good time to make the transition to adult food.

I have a 75 pound pit that just turned 1. I also have a 4 month old pit that is 45 pounds (neither of the dogs are over weight). I have been feeding them the same food but now the male is a year old is the puppy food still ok to feed him?

Asked by: Nate
Hi, Nate. This formula will absolutely work for both of your dogs. We recommend you to talk to your veterinarian about the right time to transition your pet. As a general guide, we recommend feeding puppy food until 10-12 months of age. For giant breeds, between 12-18 months of age is a good time to make the transition to adult food. I was wondering what the calcium/phosphorus ratio was for this diet. My vet is concerned about the ratio for my large breed puppy. Thanks.

Asked by: ArizonaSkies
Our High Prairie Puppy formula has a calcium to phosphorus ratio of 1.4:1.0 which meets the AAFCO recommendations for large breed puppies. Additionally, all of our all life stages foods were formulated with large breed puppies in mind and contain the correct balance of calcium to phosphorus. How often do I feed my 4 month old puppy and how much each time

Asked by: Emma1
Hi, Emma and congrats on the new addition to your family! We recommend starting with the feeding guide printed on the side gusset of the bag and making adjustments based on your pup’s activity level, body condition and age. It can also be found on our website https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/dog-formulas/high-prairie-puppy-formula-with-bison-roasted-venison/. How often you feed your pup is a matter of personal preference, dogs can be fed less often as they get older. We’ve put together a feeding guide below for you to consider. 4 months of age, consider 3–4 meals per day 4–6 months of age, consider 2–3 meals per day 6 months and older, consider two meals per day If you have any questions, please contact us by visiting our website https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/contact-us/.

HI, I have purchased this and salmon for my 7mo. puppy but won't eat the puppy version. Only the Adult version which we feed our other dog. Is it okay to feed my puppy adult food if it's the only kind she will eat?

Asked by: AmyCandlin
Hi, Amy. High Prairie Canine Formula was developed as a maintenance diet and does not provide the nutrition puppies need. We would recommend trying our other puppy formula, Pacific Stream Puppy, or one of our all life stages formulas such as Pine Forest, which is a venison-based formula like High Prairie.
