Rated 5 out of 5 by from Miss May has been healed! I have a rescue by the name of Miss May and she had food allergies that caused her grief and caused me worry and anxiety for almost two years. The vet recommended several high priced foods which did not alleviate her rash/itch, however, FINALLY, feeding her your Trout and Salmon food cleared up her rash, restored her hair to a beautiful shine and she has also lost the weight the vet recommended (which didn't happen with any of the other foods). No other food helped this cat. She is a senior (now approximately 10 years old) whose previous owner passed away and no one had any information to help. Now, she's a cuddle bug and content, peaceful and happy cat!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's the Only Food My Maine Coon Will Eat!! After trying several common brands of cat food, to no avail, in an effort to finally find a brand of cat food my maine coon will eat, out of desperation, I ventured into a local pet store. I had already decided that since I don't eat a lot of grains, I would not subject my maine coon to them, either. After viewing the varieties of cat foods they offered, I decided to try Taste of the Wild - Canyon River and I have not looked back!! For the first time, my maine coon actually consumed an entire bag of cat food! He has fewer hair balls and his coat is sleek and healthy. Since Taste of the Wild has a limited distribution in my area and the pet store where I originally purchased it has closed, I have mapped out every location where I can purchase it. Compared to other, popular cat foods, this product may be a bit pricey. However, my maine coon loves it and I see it as a high quality cat food product that is worth the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My cat, Cadillac, loves it! The store where I usually buy my cat food does not sell it anymore, so I needed to find a replacement. I went to the local feed store and found Taste of the Wild - Canyon River Feline Formula with Trout and Smoked Salmon. I really liked the fact that there are zero grains in this product, and that the first ingredient is spring-fed trout. The people at the feed store said that if my cat did not like it, I could return it for a refund. When I got home I put some of this new food in a small bowl to see how she would react to it. All I can say is that she immediately started chowing down on it, it was a big hit with her! With all the quality ingredients and probiotics, I can already see that this Taste of the Wild Canyon River Feline Formula with Trout and Smoked Salmon is the only cat food that I will buy from now on. It costs a little more, but it is well worth the price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Literally saved my IBS/Allergy Cat's life! My cat Larry has always had a sensitive system, and after seven years of digestive flare-ups, accidents and baths, he was in such failing health and had lost so much weight that I called the vet to make what was to be his final appointment. No other food choice had made a difference for long, and I felt that we had reached the end of a painful journey, and I was broken-hearted. The vet suggested that I try one last food change, as what he was seeing might be an allergy to poultry products in addition to his IBS. I researched alternative protein sources, and found Canyon River Formula, with absolutely no poultry! I was able to buy it locally in my small rural town, and the price was reasonable, which as I was feeding 5 cats at the time was a real consideration. I decided to give it a try, and it was like a miracle. Almost overnight Larry started gaining weight, his coat recovered, and the accidents stopped! It has been just over a year now, and life is completely diffferent from what it was. We love Canyon River Formula! Thank you so much--your food saved Larry's life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Peace of mind We switched to Taste of the Wild Canyon River Feline after much research and debate over our newest kittens developed skin ailments and stomach distress. Past incidents with our dog, and an acquaintance's dog having had allergies to proteins in commercial chicken meat, and by-products, led us to removing all chicken as food for all of our pets. A Vet failed to acknowledge that an allergy to chicken proteins in a leading allergy in canines. Once that was brought to my attention we ditched that Vet and changed our entire feeding routine. All of the pet ailments in both cats & dogs eased up and vanished within 2 weeks of removing chicken. I found the Trout flavor and have seen little or no stomach distress in any of the animals. A world of difference in our house!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can see improvement in my cat in just 1 week! I have 2 cats, one has skin allergies, I decided to try a grain free diet. In just one week I was able to see a definite improvement, and his digestion has improved also. I was surprised he liked it immediately and doesn't eat nearly as much as he did before. I also appreciate the fact that this is made in Missouri! You showed me! Thank you!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My cats are thrilled mom was hunting new food for To be honest TOTW for my clowder of kitties was a bit of an after thought. I had been hopelessly searching for a food for my pom Scooter because of his apparent allergies. After trying different brands, research and recommendations I landed on TOTW salmon. Scooter had a large patch of raw skin on his back from scratching. After maybe a month the patch cleared up and his fur grew back. I was so happy I felt it would be unfair not to switch kitties to TOTW also. I must say a great side affect is they eat less and are much more satisfied. Sadly I had high heating bills and this month had to buy cheaper food. I so look forward to my SS check so I can get TOTW. They are not satisfied this month. Everytime I move they are under foot looking for their TOTW. Extremely unhappy with mom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Trials over at last My cat started having severe food allergies when she was about three and I struggled to find the right food for her until she was nearly seven. I nearly had her put asleep because the extent of her sores was so bad her entire back was covered in scabs. I finally found and used Purina sensitive systems until they changed their recipe without any notice or indication(while still advertising it hasn't fun changed). My cat began pulling out her hair then making huge, awful sores on her back and legs again. It took me a long time to realize her food was changed and another couple months of different foods before I found TotW. So many brands list that they have no chicken or chicken meal in their food yet still have it in their ingredients as the second or third one. I tried several big brands (Hills, Blue Buffalo, Purina, ect) that claimed they were good for cats with allergies only to have to return them almost immediately. TotW was the only food in my local pet store that both listed being chicken free and actually was in the ingredients. When I opened the bag and it smelled like fish sticks, I felt relieved. My cat has only been on it for a little over a week and her spots are healing and her fur is coming back. She's been more vocal and energetic. I'm just so happy to see her back to normal. I have a neurocardic condition and she's my best support in the world. I couldn't bare to lose her. Thank you so much for honest packaging. You saved my cat and I'll always be grateful.

What is "natural flavor?" Does is derive in any way from chicken/eggs?

Asked by: jens
Hi, Jen! Natural flavoring is an ingredient added for enhanced palatability and an extra-tasty meaty flavor in your pet's food. It's made from hydrolyzed chicken, which means that the protein is broken down into small particles that are not recognized by the immune system in a pet with food allergies. Additionally, it does not contain MSG.

I have a cat who is 16lbs....and should probably be around 10lbs. I have been feeding about 2/3 a cup a day. What amount would you recommend for weight loss? We have been at this for 4 weeks with no weight loss....she is exercising as well.

Asked by: Trish
My vet said that to maintain an adult cat's healthy weight, feed them 15 calories per day for each pound of their current weight. To help an overweight adult cat lose weight, feed them 10 calories per day for each pound of their ideal weight. According to my vet and your cat's ideal weight, your girl should be eating 100 calories per day, which would be about 1/3 cup per day. (This formula has 350 calories per cup of kibble.)

I bought cat canyon food by mistake thinking it was dog food-will it hurt my dog?

Asked by: Rhoda
Hello, and thanks for reaching out! While an occasional bite of cat food will not hurt your dog, feeding it regularly can be harmful to your dog’s health. This is because dogs and cats do not have the same requirements for nutrients like protein and amino acids. You may return or exchange the recipe (with receipt) from the retailer it was purchased from. If you have any additional questions, please contact us at https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/contact-us.

Can I switch between canyon river and rocky mtn. feline? I am concerned about the 10% protein difference.

Asked by: Haws
Generally with cats, we recommend sticking to one formula. Any changes to your cat’s diet should be made very gradually, as sudden changes can lead to health issues like stress, urinary problems, and pancreatitis.

Asked by: Jill
Hello and thanks for reaching out! We recommend working with your veterinarian to develop an individual weight loss program for you cat. Measuring and controlling his total caloric intake is a great place to start.
