Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dog likes it - Cures a problem Our Great Pyrenes was constantly throwing up his Science Hill dry food. We switched to Taste of the Wild canned food and the throwing up became much less frequently, but he stared to have serious gas problems. After he did finally throw up his canned food we noticed that after almost 4 hours the food showed no signs of digestion. After a night of computer research, all the information that I found seemed to point to a lack of digestive enzymes in our dog's stomach. I purchased 4oz can of Naturvet Digestive Enzymes and started to use it. The gas problem has all most disappeared and or dog seems to feel a lot better and runs to get his food in the morning which he would not even eat sometimes when feeding the Science Hill. I give four stars for the Taste of the Wild and five stars for the Taste of the Wild canned food and Naturvet Digestive Enzyme combination. If only it was not so expensive, but there seems to be a solution to a dog with a sensitive stomach.

Our senior dog struggles with gastrointestinal issues..acid reflux. He eats your dry kibble, mix of flavors and also takes Prilosec. I’m wondering if we should switch him to wet or some other diet to calm his stomach acid. Appreciate any suggestions.

Asked by: Sara
Hi, Sara, we are sorry to hear about your dog’s gastroesophageal reflux. For dogs with gastroesophageal reflux, veterinarians generally recommend a low fat, low protein diet; for this reason, we would not recommend our Sierra Mountain Canine Lamb in Gravy canned formula. However, if you’d like to continue feeding dry formula, our Sierra Mountain Canine (Dry) Formula contains the lowest fat and protein of all Taste of the Wild dry formulas. Please know, we suggest consulting with your veterinarian to find the most appropriate diet for your dog’s specific condition. If you have any additional questions about our products, please don’t hesitate to call us at 1-800-342-4808 or email us by visiting https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/contact-us/.

1.  Which of your wet canned is best for my dog who has a touchy stomach with diarrhea? 2.  Is it necessary to slowly introduce the wet food when going from one flavor of TOW to another?

Asked by: Carol
Hello! There are many causes of stomach upset/diarrhea in dogs, so first, we recommend consulting your dog’s veterinarian to determine whether medical treatment is needed. When changing flavors, we recommend a gradual transition to help avoid digestive upset - slowly reduce the amount of the old formula as you increase the new formula over a couple of weeks.
