My oldest is 15 and was 7 when I switch to Taste of the Wild. One has only known Taste of the Wild. The other two are rescues so they have been on it from the day I brought them home. I just started giving them Pine Forest with venison and Legumes, they eat it like it is going out of style.Date published: 2018-04-23Rated 5 out of 5 by HaleyB from Best food for your dog’s health! We haven’t tried the new flavors yet but we are looking forward to it!Date published: 2018-04-22Rated 5 out of 5 by Amy L from The perfect dog food! Mishka is a 9 year old Chihuahua/Poodle mix, she is an extremely picky eater. But it was different when it came to TOTW. As soon as I place her bowl down she starts munching and devouring her kibble. For Mishka, this flavored kibble tends to make her hungry, which is a good thing. Mishka is known to be a picky eater, but not anymore after trying Taste of the Wild.Date published: 2023-03-15Rated 5 out of 5 by cajunrunner from Pep back in the pup! After purchasing the High Prairie Puppy formula for our new dog, we accidentally ran out of our other dogs' food(different brand) so we had to give them (a 16 y/o schnauzer mix and a 4 y/o pit mix) some of hers. For several months prior to this, our oldest had been eating less and less causing a significant loss of weight, strength, balance and general mobility. That night he gobbled up the Taste of the Wild food like I hadn't seen him eat in forever. I drove straight to Tractor Supply the next day and purchased this variety for them. It has been about a week and already we can see a profound difference in Gabe. He is eating all of his meals (in record time I might add), he is putting on weight, he is moving around much better and has a lot more "pep in his step." I cannot rave about this product enough. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for making such a wonderful product!Date published: 2017-11-12Rated 5 out of 5 by MelT from Works with our dogs food sensitivities I have been feeding Taste of the Wild grain free and then Ancient Grains for quite some time and Aspen has loved all the recipes, but after some excessive licking we did a food sensitivity test and we able to select this food that matches up so well with all the things she is not sensitive too. We've been so fortunate to keep feeding a brand food she loves, while helping relieve her itching and licking.Date published: 2023-03-14Rated 1 out of 5 by Tuckers mom from My dogs did not do well with this I have been feeding Taste of the Wild for years and often switch varieties with no issues. However, when we brought home the Pine forest my dogs had problems. One of them just wouldn't eat it and the other one couldn't keep it down. Once we switched back to another variety the problems were resolved. TOTW is a good quality food and I will continue feeding it, just not the Pine Forest .Date published: 2018-06-02Rated 5 out of 5 by Topsidemule from Are dogs dog it I’ve tried every food on the market. I love this formula for my 25lb mix breed but the last 5 bags have been smelling off. It smells sour, not like meat at all and he will not eat it. I like it because it has no potatoes. I am trying the lamb to see if he does okay on that one. Unfortunately I have lost money on the last 2 bags.Date published: 2019-08-11Rated 5 out of 5 by Annabelle from Not a bite left in the bowl We have been feeding Annabelle the Taste of Wild Venison for two months now. My adult Dutch Sheppard/Husky mix Leroy has been on a high quality single protein food for two years ( since I rescued him from the local shelter) but I noticed he started to go off his food. There would be kibble on the rug by his dish, and a full bowl of food left. He started refusing it for 2 days at one point ( I wanted to see how long he would refuse to eat! And at two days I couldn't let it go on any further..but he probably would have gone longer!) I tried different flavours of the brand I was buying, but he wasn't liking any of them. I decided to try a different food one day, and tried Taste Of The Wild Pine Forest. Im not kidding or exaggerating here, he has gobbled that stuff up as soon as I put it in his bowl! His coat remained soft and shiny without dandruff, his energy remained healthy and Ive promised him I will keep giving him this food. I have nothing but good things to say about it, plus the fact that it has no grains is a big point for me. No cheap filler that may cause allergic responses. Perfect!Date published: 2018-09-26Rated 5 out of 5 by AmbersBuddy from great for my golden's skin allergies! My golden/shepherd mix is allergic to chicken biproduct. I'm trying to find something that I can feed both of them so that I don't have to keep buying two different types of dog food. Is this one good for both or would you suggest another type?
Hi, Angela. Our Pine Forest Formula is a great choice for dogs at any life stage. With venison as the main source of protein, your pet will have a highly digestible, heart-healthy protein that provides the necessary nutrients to support strong bones and muscles. Like all Taste of the Wild formulas, Pine Forest is grain-free and supplemented with vegetables and fruits and includes probiotics to support a healthy immune system.Date published: 2020-02-04Hi, how many cups are in this 28 lb bag? Hello, and thanks for reaching out! The 28lb bag of our Pine Forest Canine Recipe contains approximately 112 cups.Date published: 2021-05-14my dog is 4 and eats 2cups a day, no treats but gained weight. She eats high prarie, would this kind be more likely to help her lose a few lbs and maintain? She has alergies and does well on venison.
Hello again. While our Pine Forest Canine Formula is a great formula, it is contains the same amount of calories per cup as High Prairie. In order for your dog to lose weight, you will need to decrease the total amount of calories she eats per day. We recommend trying a leaner formula such as our Sierra Mountain Canine Formula with Roasted Lamb. It is our lowest calorie formula with 338 kcal/cup versus 370 kcal/cup in High PrairieDate published: 2017-09-23My dogs are pretty active dogs. We make sure they are outside a good chunk of the day but with winter coming along they are inside more and more. I have a lab that packs on fat easily. What is the best line that helps control weight?
Hi Katie. We’re glad you’re thinking ahead! We suggest you continue to feed the current formula, following the feeding guide. If your Lab’s weight becomes an issue, transitioning to formulas recommended for less-active dogs such as Sierra Mountain or Pacific Stream might be beneficial. They are slightly lower in protein and fat than other Taste of the Wild recipes.Date published: 2018-09-08
