Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really pleased with this food First food our lab was able to have without suffering from diarrhea and some vomiting. After visiting 2 different vets and an emergency trip to the vet and switching dog food brands multiple times due to vet recommendations I decided to try this food as it was grain free. Immediately eliminated his issues. The vet wanted us to switch to a different foot but I'm glad I tried this one at half the price of the Rx food. Food is still a little pricey but worth not getting up 4-5 times a night to take him out. Just wish it was available in my area in 30lb bags as I can only find it at one retailer and only in 15 lb bags so Chewy to the rescue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best dog food for labs We’ve always fed our dogs Taste of the Wild (grain free) and our veterinarian suggested we not feed our dogs a grain free diet anymore because of the potential yet rare risk of heart issues. So we switched to Purina One Pro Plan, and almost immediately both of our dogs were constantly scratching and chewing on their legs. Plus they both got ear infections. Our puppy had diarrhea for weeks and it almost instantly went away when we changed back to this brand. Their skin, coats and digestive systems are so healthy on this food. Especially the Smoked Salmon Grain-Free. Thank you Taste of the Wild!! Kim and Reis Ennis + Violet and Nova

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our lab and poodle love it! We started our lab out on pacific stream after I researched out no grain foods and found this to be one of the best and at a reasonable price compared to other top brands. He was doing great on it but our vet wanted us to change food to something with some grains because she felt he was gaining too much weight. Well he became very gassy and would get sick once in a while so after 6 months we switched back to the pacific stream and never looked back. Needless to say we have a different vet and now a standard poodle and both are doing great with this food. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a top quality food for their pets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great results and he loves it I switched my now almost 9 month old lab/golden mix puppy to Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream Puppy Formula from a chicken based food a couple of months ago because of some digestive issues and itchy ears. Both problems seem to have cleared up nicely. Also, while he clearly did not love his last food, he gobbles this food down happily. His coat is super shiny, and he is growing appropriately for his age. We have been so happy with Taste of the Wild that we plan to transition him to Pacific Stream Canine Formula when the time comes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than the rest We had trouble from the start getting our field English Springer Spaniel to eat from the moment we brought him home. No matter what we did he wouldn't eat the food that our breeder had been feeding him. However, we did notice he liked going after our cats' fish based food. The first one we tried caused vomiting and diarrhea even after several weeks. Finally, we switched over to TOTW Pacific Stream and it has been a huge difference. He eats regularly, his stools maintain firmness, and no vomiting at all. His overall health has been great and plenty of puppy energy. While the cost is certainly a factor it is worth the peace of mind of having a happy healthy dog.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Couldn’t be any happier I have been feeding my 5 month old European Doberman - Buddy, the Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream for puppies and he’s been enjoying every single bite of it. He has a very sensitive stomach and really just couldn’t eat anything else. And boy have I tried. This isn’t very accessible to me (live in Switzerland...), but it’s totally worth the hassle. No more diarrhea for him! He’s finally getting to a good weight and his fur is as shiny as it can get. Thanks!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only thing she will eat! Started her out on pacific stream puppy, as she is allergic to chicken ...as she got older we tried a couple other salmon formulas from other brands. She just wasn’t having it! So we put her back on Taste of the wild Pacific Stream ...she has beautiful skin & coat and stays very lean, but most importantly still seems to love it!

Hi Robert - we are sorry to hear about your dog’s stone! Your dog may need a prescription diet to help eliminate or prevent future stones. We recommend you work with your veterinarian to find the most appropriate diet.

Would this be appropriate for a large or giant breed puppy? I have an italian mastiff who is 4.5 months old. We read that his food should be lower in calcium, phosphorus, fat and vitamin D, but I'm not sure what the ratios should actually be. Thanks!

Asked by: Chloe12
Chloe12, Pacific Stream Puppy is a great choice for your Italian Mastiff puppy. Our puppy formulas were developed to support optimal health and well-being for growing puppies, including large and giant breeds.

I have a 8 week old, 10lb Cane Corso and she is currently eating Pro Plan Performance blend but I want to switch to TOTW. She is eating roughly 3-4 cups a day. How should I do blend the two for transition?

Asked by: efleming
Welcome to the Taste of the Wild family! It’s recommended you slowly transition your Cane Corso to this formula over a 7-10-day period. You can do this by starting with 25 percent of the recommended feeding portion of the new formula mixed with 75 percent of the recommended feeding portion of the old formula for 2-3 days. Then move to 50 percent of each for 2-3 days and then 75 percent of the new with 25 percent of the old for 2-3 days before feeding the new formula exclusively. Also, be sure to check the feeding guide on the bag to ensure you are feeding your dog the correct amount of the new formula.

so your puppy formula has less calcium than the adult one . sorry confused as puppy food normally has more

Asked by: sandy
It can be detrimental, especially for large breed dogs, to have too much calcium. They should have a calcium /phosphorus ratio of below 1.5%, ideally around 1.3% I think, for proper bone growth. An imbalance in this ratio can cause joint and bone growth problems, including too much calcium, protein, or calories. At least for large breeds it's important fir them not to grow too fast to lower issues with hip dysplagia and such.

I have a 12 week old chocolate lab, I saw the feeding table. Is that recommended amount per meal or per day? Also, how many times a day do you recommend to be fed? I've heard so many different things. Thank you.

Asked by: Frankie
Hi, Frankie. Thanks for reaching out. Our feeding guide represents the recommended total number of cups you should feed your dog per day. How many times you feed your dog per day is a personal preference and also dependent on your pet’s age. For a 12-week old lab puppy, we recommend feeding 3 to 4 times per day. For dogs between 4-6 months of age, we recommend feeding 2 to 3 meals per day, and once a dog is 6-months old, we recommend feeding two meals per day.

So I current feed my English bulldog High Prairie Roasted Bison and Venison Puppy Dry Food (9months now feed since 3months). I have noticed lots of shedding for the past 4 months. Will this help with shedding?

Asked by: Rizo
Hi, Rizo. Shedding is a natural process for healthy dogs. Shedding tends to increase when the seasons change. Salmon is a great source of omega fatty acids which help maintain healthy skin and a shiny coat. Certain medical, stress-related, and dietary issues can also cause more shedding than normal. Please contact your veterinarian if your dog has excessive shedding or if you notice hairless patches.

Asked by: vaibhav
Hi Vaibhav, thanks for your question. If you are concerned about your puppy's activity level, we would recommend that you contact your veterinarian. Certainly some puppies are more active than others, but a sudden decrease in activity could be an indication that your puppy is not feeling well. If you are looking to make a diet change, we have two puppy formulas in the Taste of the Wild line: Pacific Stream Puppy and High Prairie Puppy. Either of these would be a great option to provide your pup with excellent nutrition. Make sure you make a gradual change to any new food you choose to avoid an upset stomach.

Asked by: Stanley
We recommend starting with the feeding guide printed on the bag. For an 80 lb, 8-month puppy, that is 4 3/4 - 5 2/3 cups per day. How often you feed your dog is a matter of personal preference, dogs can be fed less often as they get older. Consider twice a day for all dogs 6 months and older.
