Rated 5 out of 5 by from Taste of The Wild I have been feeding Taste of The Wild for nine years now to both my Long Haired Chihuahuas and my Min Pins, with out a doubt it is the best food I have ever been able to buy they have thrived on it. There coats are beautiful and since I mix the food using the salmon as a base and then another flavor, I have been able to cut out the omega 3 suppliment I used to add as they get enought through the food. It upsets me to see the negitive comments that seem to fly around right now saying this is the food that is causing problems. I will continue to feed my dogs Taste of the Wild with no hesitation that they are getting the best diet available out there.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from German Shepard TOTW 3 years now We switched to TOTW Salmon 3 years ago for our GSD when he was about 3 yrs old (he was having bad stools (mushy) and his coat was not shiny and itched all the time. After going on TOTW Salmon based product - his stools improved significantly and shiny coat + less itching... but since the recent indigence change we noticed that the stools are bigger/looser. His coat is still nice and itching about the same... so it would be 5 stars if ingredients remained the same. We might start examining other products to see if his stools improve...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Still Loving it After All These Years Our Weimaraner has been eating Pacific Stream for about 8 years now. He still gets excited daily when it’s time to eat. You would think he would get tired of the same food day after day but not my boy. He loves it! I dog sit often in my home & they don’t want their food when they’re here. They smell his and refuse to eat theirs, lol. I end up mixing some of his in theirs to make them happy. Your food has kept his coat shiny & skin allergy free. Not to mention healthy stools. He breaks out with bumps if he eats other brands, like the dogs we sit for. Thank you for making a quality dog food for our boy Gunner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great kibble solution!! Our handsome Chocolate Labrador is not a picky eater and loves just about all foods; However, his sensitive stomach is quite particular. We set out to change food because he was getting repetitive ear infections, his skin was itchy and he was constantly shedding as though it was always summer. We were so relieved at how easily his tummy transitioned to TOW Pacific Stream, without any soft stools. Since switching, ear infections and itchy skin is a thing of the past, and his coat looks fantastic!! Although we have had the Mini Australian Shepherd (the pickier eater) on a small breed food with no sensitivity issues... but once we introduced the TOW Pacific Stream, she eats out of the big guy’s dish and leaves her kibble ~ lol. I highly recommend this food!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best food for Wheaten Terriers We have owned three Wheaten's over the past 35 years and our first two unfortunately did not dine on Taste of the Wild. They both had skin allergies and were always at the vet. Our third dog Bogey dines only on TOTW Pacific Stream and its unbelievable what a difference it has made. No skin problems, tons of energy, great teeth and as healthy as can be ! He is 2/12 years old and loves his Taste of the Wild !!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stop with adding pea protein A few years back I researched a lot of foods to find one my dogs could eat, due to numerous food allergies. I chose pacific salmon formula. However, over the last year, I have noticed facial itching and ear infections again and could not figure out why. Now I know. The formula was changed and peas were added. Now it is back to the drawing board. At least Other brands had the decency to put a large call out on their food when they changed formulas and added peas. Can't feed taste of the wild anymore.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 2 Great Danes - They love this food! We own 2 Great Danes, they have been eating The Taste of the Wild Salmon Dry Dog food for 4 years now. First started our Male Dane on TOTW when he was a puppy and had puppy acne. The Quality of the food helped to clear up his acne and balance his diet. He has been eating it ever since. Our Female Dane has skin allergies and switched her to TOTW and this helped to balance her outbreaks and provide a healthy smooth coat. We had to get her a slow eating blow so she wouldn't eat the dog food too fast, safe to say she enjoys the taste! They are both very healthy, strong, and fit dogs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HEALTHY DOGS thanks to this food Our three dogs have been fed only this food every day for over five years, plus my homemade dog biscuits and baby carrots as treats. That's it. Our vet and our groomer always remark on how gorgeous their coats are, how bright eyed they are and that their overall health is so good. I attribute this to lots of love, exercise and GOOD food from Taste of the Wild.

Glucosamine and Chondroitin are not listed in any of your ingredients/analysis. Are they just not listed or are they not included? My dog has hip dysplasia and I'm curious if I will need to supplement with this brand.

Asked by: MAVERICK
Hello and thanks for reaching out. We’re sorry to hear about your dog’s hip dysplasia. We do not add glucosamine or chondroitin to any Taste of the Wild recipes. Some of our recipes may include naturally occurring glucosamine and chondroitin due to the ingredients in that recipe, however the levels are not measured.

My chubby adult lab is about 15 lbs over weight our boxer mix about 7 lbs overweight. We are currently feeding them the High Prairire the Bison based product. Which one of your products are best for helping them shed a few pounds?

Asked by: KLM1
Hello, whether your Lab and Boxer mix will lose weight really depends on their total calorie intake. To lose weight, you will need to feed them less calories than you were previously. If you would like to switch formulas, we would recommend our Pacific Stream Canine Formula or Sierra Mountain Canine Formula as they contain the lowest amount of calories compared to other Taste of the Wild formulas.

Is it ok to change to another flavor

Asked by: Nancy
Hello, thanks for contacting us. Yes, it is ok to rotate your pet's diet to give them some variety. To avoid digestive upset, we recommend limiting your rotation to two recipes and gradually mixing foods over a couple of weeks. When you transition between recipes, slowly reduce the amount of the old recipe and increase the new one. We recommend speaking to your veterinarian about rotation diets, as they best know your pet’s health.

How best to store it, in the bag or in plastic container?

Asked by: Damien
Hello and thanks for reaching out! The recommended storage method is to keep the food in its original packaging, in order to keep vital information handy in case you have a problem, emergency or question for the manufacturer. You may store the entire bag in a closed container as well. Please know, food should be kept in a cool, dry location as excess heat or moisture may cause the nutrients to break down. The feeding guide,is it for feeding the dog 2x a day or 1x? I have 2 doxies, which I feed 2x a day.Morning & evening.I split a 1/4 a cup between the 2 of them. They both weigh between 10 to 12 lbs. Should I be spliting a cup of food?

Asked by: winniebinx2343
Winniebinx, the amount of food you see on the feeding guide is a total number of cups for the day for one dog. Adult dogs weighing 10 to 20 pounds need 1 to 1 1/2 cups per day according to the feeding guidelines, so you should be feeding your two doxies between 2-3 cups total, per day. Keep in mind that if you are feeding your dogs treats in addition to their food, you should account for those calories as well. The feeding guides are just guides, and we always recommend to work with your veterinarian if you have questions about your dogs’ nutrition.

11 year old 97 lb. golden retriever needs to lose weight. she has been eating Pacific Stream for a couple of years. Always hungry! Do you have a senior or diet food?

Asked by: Sadie11
Hello and thanks for reaching out! For senior dogs that might not be as active as they used to be, we typically recommend Sierra Mountain Canine. It contains similar amounts of protein and fat as Pacific Stream, but less total calories. For weight loss in general, we recommend feeding about 10-20% less than the amounts listed in the feeding guide (based on ideal body weight). Additionally, we recommend consulting with your veterinarian to determine the best diet plan for your Golden Retriever. And don’t forget, exercise is also an important part of any weight loss program!

We feed our dogs TOW Pacific Stream dry food. The last two bags (the kibble) has been red in color, even staining the inside of the bag. What is that about? One of our dogs has been developing a bit of a cough/gag situation. I am tempted to switch foods.

Asked by: Klosterman77
Hello, we apologize for the delayed response. We’re sorry to hear about your dog’s cough and hope it has resolved. We would be interested in learning more about your dog’s cough, as a dog can experience coughing for several different reasons. Recently we updated our natural flavoring to be more flavorful for dogs. Some kibbles will appear darker because of this update. In addition, natural ingredients can vary in color from batch to batch. Artificial dyes or colors can mask the natural variation in color. Since we do not add any artificial dyes or colors to our pet foods, the color of the kibble can vary. If you have any additional questions, please contact us by visiting our website https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/#contact-us.

Hello, great question! While we do not have a senior-specific formula, all of our canine formulas are formulated to meet the nutritional needs of senior dogs. However, if your senior dog isn't as active as he once was, we recommend our Sierra Mountain Canine Formula because of the lower calorie and fat content compared to our other formulas.

Asked by: EG84
Our dog was diagnosed with renal disease, and another veterinarian advised to lower her protein intake to 25% to make it easier on her kidneys.  We switched her to the Taste of the Wild Sierra Mountain Canine Roasted Lamb and the Pacific Stream Canine, both grain-free and the only ones at 25% protein, which quickly cleared her digestion problems and cured the "renal disease".
