Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my growing pup I feed both my puppy and active senior High Prairie puppy formula. My senior dog had started to lose weight. He is still active, but was eating less. I noticed him enjoying his little sisters food and I asked my vet about it. She said it was a perfect solution. And it has been. Both dogs are healthy and at their ideal weight. I also love that there are a variety of flavors/formulas. I’m much more comfortable switching flavors within the same brand. It causes less digestive upset. I like to switch to a fish formula in winter to help with their coats. My dogs enjoy High Prairie and Prey Trout formula. Added bonus, I like that both the farm and feed store by our cabin and Tractor Supply by my parents place sells it. One less thing to worry about when traveling.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Why only Grain Free I love Taste of Wild and have been feeding it to our two large breed dogs for the last two years. We just got a puppy and learned that you only make a grain free version of your puppy blend....why?? It's so bizarre, it's frustrating. I realize it's a debate-able topic, but you can't ignore the research findings of what omitting grains can do to a otherwise healthy puppy with no digestive or skin/allergy issues. I'd hate to transition to another qaulity brand, but will most likley have to do. Super dissappointing

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Puppy violently ill after eating this food We just bought the puppy food for our 16 week old Goldendoodle. After four days of transitioning her (she was doing no more than 1/2 cup of TOTW), she became ill with diarrhea and vomiting. We have to take her to the vet now to make sure she is okay. I will never buy this food again, and will make sure than my friends and family avoid it at all costs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good!!! I stared using Taste of the Wild last week. I had my 5 month old German Shepherd on a different food at first. She didn’t seem to digest the last food as well as the Taste of the Wild. She loves it, finishes her meals in minutes. Easy to order, great ingredients and American made!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Puppy gobbles it up My pup was having issues scratching, itching and I figured it was his food. I had started him on another brand that was chicken based all natural. After discussion with a vet friend they suggested cutting out the chicken and grains. after researching puppy foods I decided to try this Taste of the Wild. My puppy is so happy I did!.. He gobbles this kibble up and to top it off I give him some of the same CAN Food once a day. Watch what you give your pup!. this food isn't cheap for a reason..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My corgi loves this My corgi loves this!! She does not like chicken or lamb in her food for some reason. I tried this and she loved it. She’s old enough now where I am mixing two foods she’s getting this one and the Pacific Stream adult version mixed together eventually I will switch her to the adult version of this high Prairie formula. Nutmeg loves the mixture. It would be great to make a mixture altogether with bison venison and salmon all mixed Together already With large and small kernels of kibble.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Made my Pup sick I have a 1 yr old shepherd mix, she's been on this food since I adopted her (about 9 months ago) and was doing well with the food, but since purchasing a new bag in 2017 which made her sick. After eating she would throw up a few minutes after, wouldn't drink and was totally out of it. We narrowed it down to the food after taking her to the vet who gave her different food to settle her stomach, and after re-introducing TOTW got sick again. We really loved this brand because we thought it was very high quality, something must have changed in the formula or had a really bad batch judging by the amount of negative reviews I've seen. Either way, definitely switching brands and staying far away from TOTW, there should absolutely be a recall for the amount of dogs getting sick from this food. Very disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Finally, relief! I have recently gotten a new puppy. First issue was getting him to have interest in food and gain weight. We went through 3 different brands before trying this. He also developed super itchy skin, and irregular bowel movements. But since I work in a major pet retailer figured I'd give it a try. Well here we are, almost on to our second bag now:) almost all issues are gone now. And the pricing is really good as well! I'd deff. Reccomend to customers shopping in my store.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Weaning puppies I chose this dog food for a number of reasons. I like the size of the bits of kibble as puppy's first solid food. I also like that I am able to soak the bits in goat milk for the very first solids. The litter took to the food very quickly and now they are able to chew the bits readily. The litter are all healthy, growing at an appropriate rate, they digest the food easily and I plan to send each puppy home with a big of this food. The like the fish formula as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite part of his day! Milo can’t get enough of the roasted bison and venison. Taste of the Wild is the only brand he’s known. Before taking him home, him and his litter mates were introduced to the salmon formula after being weaned from mama. I was feeding him the salmon for a while and then decided to give the bison and venison a try. That was the most excited I’d seen him! His little butt wouldn’t stop wiggling, he was knocking the food out the bowl! We haven’t turned back since!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Great until now. My Aussiedoodle, Blake, has been eating Taste of the Wild since he was about 12 weeks old. We have had no problem with it, until now. We just opened a new bag, and Blake has gotten sick from it. First it started with very loose stools, it then progressed to horrible diarrhea and vomiting. He was put on meds and bland diet. As soon as we introduced the food back he vomited. We will be throwing out this entire bag and switching.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product! Our 2 dogs likes the smokey flavor & the size of the kibbles are perfect for small breed. When we first got our dog, this was recommended by our breeder. and when she had puppies, we used these as their weaning food. Aiko lost a lot of weight after giving birth. We decided to just feed her the same puppy food as her litter up till now. Thankfully she regain her healthy weight. Now her vet advises us to switch to adult food.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Num Num Num From the day we brought our Malinois home, we have been feeding her "High Prairie Puppy Recipe with Roasted Bison & Roasted Venison". Recommended by our breeder, this kibble is amazing! Her coat is so soft and shinny, her teeth "pearly white" and activity and endurance amazing! I cant say enough good things about it! We train her by luring and commonly use her kibble to do so. She loves it! What a great product!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Mixed signals I also am disappointed to see a discrepency between the ingredients listed on the bag, and listed on the website; Specifically regarding taurine. I feel like I am being scammed when I go into a store and the ingredients I am specifically looking to avoid are omitted from the bags label. I'm certain this is not a 'new' ingredient and omitting it is not what I'd consider full disclosure to your customers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our pup’s preference Etta has been having Taste of the wild since we first brought her home @ 8weeks. At close to 8mos we now add one heaping T of their canned food & pollack oil to her dry. Needless to say she’s a very happy girl. We had to switch foods for a while as she got picky. She is now back to taste and we’ve noticed that she’s much more regular in her potty duty. We’re fans and Etta’s preference is definitely Taste.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My puppies are thriving I own 2 Polish Tatra Sheepdogs and they absolutely love this recipe. They look forward to feeding time and rarely leave any kibble in the bowl. My male puppy was on this right from the start, from the breeder. When I got my female she was really thin, her coat wasn’t shiny and she didn’t seem to have much energy. After a few weeks of being on TOTW I noticed a significant difference. She is thriving.

At what age should I transition from puppy to adult formula? Thanks, Kevin

Asked by: Kevin
Hi Kevin, thanks for your question. We recommend you work with your veterinarian to determine the right time to transition your pet. As a general guide, we recommend feeding puppy food until 10-12 months of age. For giant breeds, between 12-18 months of age is a good time to make the transition to adult food.

I have a 75 pound pit that just turned 1. I also have a 4 month old pit that is 45 pounds (neither of the dogs are over weight). I have been feeding them the same food but now the male is a year old is the puppy food still ok to feed him?

Asked by: Nate
Hi, Nate. This formula will absolutely work for both of your dogs. We recommend you to talk to your veterinarian about the right time to transition your pet. As a general guide, we recommend feeding puppy food until 10-12 months of age. For giant breeds, between 12-18 months of age is a good time to make the transition to adult food. I was wondering what the calcium/phosphorus ratio was for this diet. My vet is concerned about the ratio for my large breed puppy. Thanks.

Asked by: ArizonaSkies
Our High Prairie Puppy formula has a calcium to phosphorus ratio of 1.4:1.0 which meets the AAFCO recommendations for large breed puppies. Additionally, all of our all life stages foods were formulated with large breed puppies in mind and contain the correct balance of calcium to phosphorus. How often do I feed my 4 month old puppy and how much each time

Asked by: Emma1
Hi, Emma and congrats on the new addition to your family! We recommend starting with the feeding guide printed on the side gusset of the bag and making adjustments based on your pup’s activity level, body condition and age. It can also be found on our website https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/dog-formulas/high-prairie-puppy-formula-with-bison-roasted-venison/. We’ve put together a feeding guide below for you to consider. 4 months of age, consider 3–4 meals per day 4–6 months of age, consider 2–3 meals per day 6 months and older, consider two meals per day If you have any questions, please contact us by visiting our website https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/contact-us/.

HI, I have purchased this and salmon for my 7mo. puppy but won't eat the puppy version. Only the Adult version which we feed our other dog. Is it okay to feed my puppy adult food if it's the only kind she will eat?

Asked by: AmyCandlin
Hi, Amy. High Prairie Canine Formula was developed as a maintenance diet and does not provide the nutrition puppies need. We would recommend trying our other puppy formula, Pacific Stream Puppy, or one of our all life stages formulas such as Pine Forest, which is a venison-based formula like High Prairie.
