Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great food! I have had a very pukey puppy from the moment we brought him home. Initially I thought he was just getting into some stuff he shouldn't be. Fast forward a few months, the vomiting continued. A few vet visits and a couple huge bills later they thought he might have colitis. I took a trip to our local Petvalu where the associate told me about chicken allergies some dogs have and recommended a certain brand of food they sold. The vomiting continued! I took it upon myself to research foods good for dogs with sensitive stomachs, which is where I found Taste of the Wild. I purchased a bag and I thrilled to say we finally found a food he could keep down! He has been on the High Prairie Puppy Formula for the past several months and has not had a single vomiting spell.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Olive says "Bone Appetit" Olive has been on Taste of the Wild since she was weaned onto puppy mush (Taste of the Wild - High Prairie Puppy Recipe and warm water) and then onto straight kibble. Her breeder highly recommended the product and feeds her three Labradoodles and all of her litter puppies Taste of the Wild. We recently transitioned her to the Taste of the Wild - High Prairie Canine formula as she celebrated her first birthday. She eagerly awaits her Taste of the Wild kibble. for both meals daily. Taste of the Wild provides her with all of the nutrition she needs to support her very active lifestyle.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Game Changer - Our puppy loooves this recipe! We recently switched to the Taste of the Wild puppy recipe with roasted bison and roasted venison grain-free, and I have to say, it's been a game-changer for my furry friend! I love that this recipe is made with real, high-quality ingredients and is completely grain-free. But most importantly, my puppy absolutely loves it! From the first bite, my little one was hooked. The delicious aroma and flavor of the roasted bison and venison is unbeatable. I've noticed that my puppy has more energy and a shinier coat since switching to this recipe, which is a testament to the quality of the food. Overall, I highly recommend the Taste of the Wild puppy recipe with roasted bison and roasted venison grain-free to any dog parent looking for a nutritious and delicious food for their furry friend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I can’t imagine feeding anything else! Our pup had serious tummy problems after being exposed to giardia and him not being cared for properly in his first home. We battled ridding it over three courses of treatment but ultimately we had him on TOTW and not only he has always looked forward to his meals but he manages a very healthy weight. His coat is gorgeous and he is a healthy, growing dude. (:

I researched so much into this brand before purchasing it and I am highly satisfied. His hair coat is soft and shiny, he has not had any stomach problems, he’s been growing so fast and put on some good healthy weight! I love this brand of food, definitely keeping him on it..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Picky Eaters Pick High Prairie Both of our small breed dogs have been on a variety of kibbles. We've tried cooking, adding meat, vegetables, etc. Tonight we brought home a bag of the High Prairie Dry Kibbles and they ate it out of my hand; dry! We later prepared their usual which consisted of the High Prairie and Green Beans. The meal disappeared in less than a minute.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Aussiedoodle puppy loves it! Benji has been on taste of wild since he was 10 weeks old (now 6 months) and is such a vibrant and healthy puppy! Multiple puppies in our neighborhood have switched to TOTW after seeing how much Benji loves it. Also, it is very fairly priced for the quality of ingredients/grain-free when I compared a lot of puppy foods.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from BOWEL MOVEMENTS Review of the food has to be five star. This is not about the food. We have a Black Russian Terrier who is still in the growth stage, thus still feeding her the puppy formula. Three cups a day, and a pound of meet high protein product. So far so good. With this she is averaging between five and six bowel movements A DAY. All solid. Every time we take her out, she has a movement. This one factor is making me think to change to another brand. Anyone else have this issue?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Puppy, Happy life. When we first got our little puppy we went out to Walmart and bought him some purina puppy chow (not proud of that, we didn't know better) It had different shapes and colors and looked like kitty food honestly, after realizing all the dyes and by products involved and besides that our puppy was eating out of starvation not want, we ended up going to our local cal ranch store and getting a small bag of this brand, I have never seen him clean his plate so fast, and after awhile of use he looked amazing, i had googled reviews for this product and got a little scared with it all, some people worried about mold in the food or dogs getting sick, our vet even told us no on taste of the wild and to go to purina, but i dump the whole bag when i get it from the store into a bin and make sure no mold is in it, but i feel like taste of the wild uses real ingredients so this is a possibility, purina probably never gets recalled because of all the fake stuff in it. I don't plan on switching dog food anytime soon, but every dog is different and requires different needs so pay attention to your fur friend and make the right choice for them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing food! Supports growing puppies brilliantly We have been feeding my boy Jasper taste of the wild from the day we got him after researching multiple different foods, as a German Shorthaired Pointer he needed something that would support his high energy needs and growth and I do not have any complaints! I constantly get compliments on his soft and shiny fur this food is amazing and he looks stunning! I have just gotten a GSD puppy and his fur was dry from the food he was eating before but within just a week of transitioning into this food he is feeling softer and has more energy! 100% recommend this good

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The ingredients keep changing! I have a papillon that has had horrible skin problems for years. After spending a few thousand dollars taking him to the vet and vet dermatologist we finally had a vet tell us that chicken is the most likely food allergy a dog can have! The dermatologist didn’t even tell us that. They actually suggested chicken as a single protein. The last vet we went to was the only vet to tell us about the chicken thing. We have been feeding our dogs High Prairie Puppy for years. After doing a single protein diet with beef, we went to the store and looked at the High Prairie Puppy bag. It did say egg and we got it not thinking about it. The dogs skin has gotten worse and I went to check out other foods. I happened to glance at the ingredients on the High Prairie Puppy bag and it said Chicken Fat! After looking at the website and the reviews it is clear that y’all do change the ingredients. There is someone that posted screen shots of the website and pictures of the bag they have. They were concerned about the Taurine content but clearly the bag says one thing and the website says another. I’d suggest removing all chicken products from your dog foods. Especially when you advertise all of these “wild” diets. It is really misleading.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Papillon Puppy Loves it!!! I asked a question about the size of the food in the puppy food and received a response promptly. I got my Papillon puppy yesterday and after a 4 hour ride from Bowling Green, KY to Birmingham, AL, the little man was feeling rough. We went to the pet store and I got a bag of the food to try, because he's my third Papillon and I know that they're picky eaters. When I opened the bag he bounced in excitement at the smell of the food. I mixed it with what the breeder gave me, holding back the wet food they said he may need because he might not eat, and he devoured it! I gave him more this morning with his old kibble. He sits or lays with his bowl as he digs in. I'll post again later, but my furball thinks this stuff is the bee's knees!

Can’t say I’ll be switching foods for Ellie anytime soon! Thanks, Taste of the Wild.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our picky husky never passes up this recipe! Ever since bringing Chief home, we have used Taste of the Wild’s High Prairie Puppy Recipe and he has always enjoyed it! We chose this brand because we don’t always see venison and bison as choices for kibble and were immediately interested. The reviews we looked at before buying were very positive! And we like that this recipe comes in small kibble size for puppies but that there’s also an adult version, so as Chief grows we can switch him over to the adult recipe. Thank you Taste of the Wild for helping us keep our husky happy!

At what age should I transition from puppy to adult formula? Thanks, Kevin

Asked by: Kevin
Hi Kevin, thanks for your question. We recommend you work with your veterinarian to determine the right time to transition your pet. As a general guide, we recommend feeding puppy food until 10-12 months of age. For giant breeds, between 12-18 months of age is a good time to make the transition to adult food.

I have a 75 pound pit that just turned 1. I also have a 4 month old pit that is 45 pounds (neither of the dogs are over weight). I have been feeding them the same food but now the male is a year old is the puppy food still ok to feed him?

Asked by: Nate
Hi, Nate. This formula will absolutely work for both of your dogs. We recommend you to talk to your veterinarian about the right time to transition your pet. As a general guide, we recommend feeding puppy food until 10-12 months of age. For giant breeds, between 12-18 months of age is a good time to make the transition to adult food. While High Prairie Puppy was developed for growing puppies, it is formulated to meet the nutritional needs for dog of all life stages.

I was wondering what the calcium/phosphorus ratio was for this diet. My vet is concerned about the ratio for my large breed puppy. Thanks.

Asked by: ArizonaSkies
Our High Prairie Puppy formula has a calcium to phosphorus ratio of 1.4:1.0 which meets the AAFCO recommendations for large breed puppies. Additionally, all of our all life stages foods were formulated with large breed puppies in mind and contain the correct balance of calcium to phosphorus. How often do I feed my 4 month old puppy and how much each time

Asked by: Emma1
Hi, Emma and congrats on the new addition to your family! We recommend starting with the feeding guide printed on the side gusset of the bag and making adjustments based on your pup’s activity level, body condition and age. It can also be found on our website https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/dog-formulas/high-prairie-puppy-formula-with-bison-roasted-venison/. How often you feed your pup is a matter of personal preference, dogs can be fed less often as they get older. We’ve put together a feeding guide below for you to consider. 4 months of age, consider 3–4 meals per day 4–6 months of age, consider 2–3 meals per day 6 months and older, consider two meals per day If you have any questions, please contact us by visiting our website https://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/contact-us/.

HI, I have purchased this and salmon for my 7mo. puppy but won't eat the puppy version. Only the Adult version which we feed our other dog. Is it okay to feed my puppy adult food if it's the only kind she will eat?

Asked by: AmyCandlin
Hi, Amy. High Prairie Canine Formula was developed as a maintenance diet and does not provide the nutrition puppies need. We would recommend trying our other puppy formula, Pacific Stream Puppy, or one of our all life stages formulas such as Pine Forest, which is a venison-based formula like High Prairie.
