Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cats love it but... My two indoor cats have been eating TOW Rocky Mountain and Lowland Creek since they were kittens. They love it but now, one of the two has tons of crystals in his urine and urinary tract inflammation. He is only 2 1/2 years old. We are not happy. Cats are obligate carnivores and do not need carbs like peas and potatoes. Nor do they need tomatoes. They need meat protein, not plant protein.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My finicky cats love their food It took me awhile to find a food that four cats would all enjoy. I couldn't be happier than with my choice to use Taste of the Wild! I vary the flavors and they enjoy both flavors of the dry cat food. I also got my sister to switch! Her little dog couldn't stay out of the cat's food. They have switch to Taste of the Wild for dogs, and their little pup looks forward to feeding time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Recommended it to everyone, but take note... All the cats in my household love this, and in Malaysia this is the cheapest grain free brand I can afford. However, my 2 year old male who grew up eating this has become a bit overweight (due to the high fat and protein content) and so I am reducing the portion and mixing it with Iams Indoor weight control. Likewise for my 6 year old female, she ate this in the last 2 years she was mine, but recently had bloody anus and soft stool issue. I believe it is either she cannot tolerate the high protein in rocky mountain, or she cannot tolerate all the fishes in canyon river. She too is on mixed kibbles, and the problem has reduced (she will still have bloody stool once every few weeks, but doc also said it could be from hairballs-Iams indoors also helps with hairballs).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Three cats love it! We needed to change from our "very expensive" cat food due to unacceptable formulation changes that caused 3 cats to stop eating it. Taste Of The Wild was in the running and the company was kind enough to send me samples. What a hit with all 3 boys. I ran to our local pet store a bought and small bag of this flavor along with some cans of the wet food. The fussy cat actually pushed the other 2 out of the way to get at the bowls. It has only been a few weeks but this brand sure seems to be a winner. As many other folks have expressed--my boys have more energy and are excited about eating again! I just placed my order with Chewy for the large bag and some cases of the canned food. Thank you TOTW!! Please do not change anything--you really do have a great product here!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really high in protein! We try to vary our cat’s diets so they don’t get picky, but this is hands down (paws down?) their favourite. Plus it’s one of the healthiest foods I’ve found. It’s also great for my fuzzy tub of lard I’m helping lose weight, diet cat foods are gross and he won’t eat them, but this is actually working

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Healthy and Tasty Our indoor/outdoor cat has eaten dry Taste Of The Wild as his primary diet since starting adult food 10 years ago. He has never had any type of health problem at all...ever. He’s never become reluctant to eating it. He still likes it. He’s always been slim, trim, shiny and healthy

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My cats cry for it! Cynder and Teddy are both always super excited at meal times! They hear me scoop the food and scream at me to hurry up and they eat it all! Aside from flavor, Cynder is 16 years old and used to vomit constantly! She doesn’t do that with Taste of the Wild!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My crew love this food! I’ve only recently switched and my cats love it. They are always running to the food dish when they hear the package open. It seems to sit well with them as they’ve had issues with other brands in the past. I will definitely purchase again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from We like this, but... I've had an experience similar to poster Kathyscats, where my cats have been eating this food enthusiastically for years, but suddenly in the past few months, some bags seem to be "off" to them...they pick at it and eat it reluctantly. The first time it happened, I put it down to an opening in the side seam of the bag that I didn't notice until I got home, and originally thought I split it transporting it from the car. But when they behaved differently and avoided eating it, I exchanged it for another bag. Things were back to normal for a couple of bags, but with the most recent purchase, they are acting funny about it again. A few spit ups that I think were more about hairballs, so it's not making anyone sick, but...I, too hope the variation in what they expect and enjoy does not become a regular thing or we may have to find an alternate as well. Shame, b/c I chose this food because it's grain free, has more of the named meat source and less poultry (which we avoid some because of stool odor/gastro sensitivity), and b/c it's a good value for the volume.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Came Highly Recommended & We Weren't Disappointed My brother only feeds his dogs Taste of the Wild. When my aging cat began to have issues keeping down food, he recommended this brand. Not only was my cat able to keep down her food, she actually enjoyed eating again. (And she was a picky eater to begin with - not any flavor or brand would do!) This has become the only dry food brand that we feed our cats and have been doing so for the last 4 years. Very pleased with the quality of the food and the flavors available. Highly recommend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ingredients I was given a case of canned TofW Salmon and Venison formula and was really surprised to see how many whole garbanzo beans are in it. My cats liked the gravy but would not eat the solid part. I regularly buy TofW dry food and am now having to rethink if I need to seek out another brand that is lower in carbs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My cats love this cat food! My cats started eating this cat food when a friend gave us a bag and we've stuck with it ever since. My female cat, Ripley, always lets me know when it's cat food time! She's a fat little kitty who ALWAYS thinks she's starving! I tell her that she absolutely cannot audition for a PETA commercial with starving animals when she's this well-fed! She disagrees. My other cat, Kermit likes your cat food almost as much as he likes deli turkey and that's quite the compliment!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Baby Girl Is Always On A Hunt For Rocky Mountain When I adopted Baby Girl she took to me offering her Taste of The Wild Rocky Mountain formula. No problems with her health or skin and fur coat. She’s always super soft and shiny. I feed her 1/2 cup a day and a little moist food to. She is spoiled and has a fountain to that keeps her water fresh and clean. Her energy is outstanding. She likes watching the birds thru the window and pounces on her play mouse. Just so nice to know that this cat food is her favorite.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed at the low Taurine content I have six cats and my Siamese JJ especially likes the Venison/Salmon flavor, and the rest of the ingredient analysis meets with my approval , however, the low taurine content is of concern. Cats need taurine for their eyesight and 20% is a standard for premium cat foods and quite frankly for many non-premium brands as well. Until Rocky Mountain bumps up their taurine to 20% like most every other brand, I cannot purchase this product in good conscience.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Only food my Violet can eat! After rescuing our kitten Violet we learned very quickly that she was allergic to something, she started showing signs of a food allergy(excessive hair loss and sores around her neck and head) So after process of elimination we tried Taste of the Wild Pet Food and we finally found a food that worked for her specific needs. It was a huge relief! So for the past 2 years she has been enjoying her favorite Rocky Mountain Felice recipe.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never heard of it but love it! I never heard of this food my Tibbs has very soft fur from it. Plus he is getting all that great vitamins and nutrients. I promised myself to buy the best food for him. I want him around a long time. When rescuing him he was on this brand. We switch our other cat to this and she has most weight and has a soft cat. She doesn't throw up the food like the other brands. Plus I love the fact Tibbs can have this all his life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Favorite and Healthy for Hayley Hayley has been a fan of the Rocky Mountain formula for almost 10 years. She has a sensitive digestion system and this has been the tried and true good that is not only healthy and keeps her digestive system calm but she enjoys it. So much so that she like to eat it as an occasional treat. I'm grateful as her human that this brand is well made and keeps my little furry friend happy.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from cats I recently learned that when cat food has fish in it, the fish is farm raised which is full of chemicals, sea lice have field day salmon pens and the salmon is far higher in contaminants especially farmed raised salmon. And it is cheap. Even the 'all natural' salmon is farm raised. The first ingredient is salmon the taste of the wild. I am not happy about poisoning my pets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cat and I both love it Years ago I adopted a cat that had lived her first four years of life only eating Meow Mix. I was determined to get her on a healthier track and researched the heck out of the issue and tried many different grain free recipes. Taste of the Wild was the only one she would readily gobble up and I love the price point! It's the best of both worlds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Over Five Years and 3 Cats Still Love It I started feeding this dry food to my cats over five years ago because it’s grain-free, domestically produced, and they liked it as their main food. Over five years later, all of them, even the 15-year-old, are healthy, happy, and they still love this food. They used to be picky about food after a few months, but they never tire of this kind.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Chairman Meow loves it! I love that this is no-grain and has a good added supplements. Our cat, Chairman Meow, loves it so much that when we bring a new bag into the house he starts chewing and pawing on it to tear it open to get at it. Despite the fact that he eats it every day and it is nothing "new". He loves it and I am happy with the nutrition it brings.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Cats don't like it so much... Honestly, I give this food to my cats when they need to shed a little bit of weight. This is not their favorite and would rather eat the dog's food (and of courset the dog would love me to feed this to her). But i continue to feed it to them because i know it has the nutrition they need, even if they don't eat their usual amount of food.

You make a very picky kitty VERY ecstatic!!!

I changed my cat food from Ideal Balance to Taste of the Wild, and my cat appears to be shedding a lot of fur since the change. Thoughts?

Asked by: Alley
Shedding is a natural process for healthy cats. If your cat spends time outdoors, it may shed more in the spring and fall, but indoor cats tend to shed all year round. Certain medical, stress-related, and dietary issues can cause more shedding than normal. Please contact your veterinarian if your cat has excessive shedding or if you notice hairless patches.

Asked by: Cyndi
Hi, Cyndi. Thanks for your question! Taste of the Wild is not produced with ingredients that contain gluten. However, the food is produced in a facility that manufactures products with gluten, which means there may be trace amounts of gluten in Taste of the Wild products.
