Rated 5 out of 5 by from Papillons say yes, please! Ancient Prairie Canine Recipe has become the preferred food to my senior dogs ranging in age from 10 to 16. They are now on their 3rd 14 pound bag and 4 months into their new food. Because 2 had developed allergies in the past year, I decided a food change with a new protein source would be the place to start. At 12 weeks, it was clear that I found a solution with Ancient Prairie. Foot licking stopped, and coat texture improved dramatically. Because they are 5-8 pounds and seniors who get 6 trips to the yard a day, they are perfectly content with one meal a day and are in great weight. Despite their age, they do zoomies for 15 minutes an hour before dinnertime. They love their new food.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Allergic Reaction Why would you put chicken meal & chicken fat into this Bison & Venison Recipe?? My dog is having a reaction to this food because of the chicken! I will never purchase your food again. I do not understand why dog food companies put chicken in their products especially when it is not a chicken based item. There are so many dogs out there with allergies to chicken and yet because it's a cheap product to use dog companies will use them and then our pets have to suffer. Again I will no longer be purchasing your items because of this.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I liked how my dog would eat it every time I put in his bowl. He has been picky before, and he wasnt picky with this product. I mixed it with the primary dog food for my dog because he is sensitive with new foods. Usually when new food is introduced to his diet, he would get diarrhea, but he did not get any diarrhea with this brand at all, which is great! There was nothing really I dislike about this product. I liked this a lot, and may possibly purchase this product to give to my dog in the future. I received this product for free for review purposes.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Jumping Aussies @ Dinner time I have fed my Aussies Taste of the wild Prairie for over 10 years. THEY ALL LOVE IT. The puppy when his bowl is empty he caries it around tying to drain every unforseen crumb! my hope is soon you will come up with an Organic Praire. My dogs have NEVER gotten sick from this food thru the years. I also feed my Maine Coon cat taste of the wild and he LOVES it too!...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My dog loved these! As you can see in the picture, he could not wait to open the box and chewed the outside too. But once he tried it he liked it even more! He ate his whole bowl in less than a minute and wanted more! The second baggie will come in handy for traveling as it is the perfect size for a meal or two. The ingredients are simple and clean which makes it easy to give him the best of options as he is still growing and needs good quality food. Will definitely keep buying this brand and recommend to try it out!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Im rating this a 4 because my dog seems to like it and she prefers a larger kibble, but Influenster provided such a small amount that I feel I cant write a proper review. Any pet owner knows not to abruptly switch their dogs food so Ive only been able to add partial amounts to my dogs current food so as not to shock her system and upset her tummy. I would be willing to purchase this because my vet recommended we go back on a grain product after being on grain free for years. The ingredients seem good and taste of the Wild is a reputable brand. I think in order to get a proper review though influenster needs to provide enough of an amount to fully test the product. Two small bags that equal 2 or 3 portions of food is not enough to leave an honest review about a product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My dog is super picky with an incredibly finicky tummy. We can usually only get her to eat salmon based foods but she gobbled this up like it was the greatest thing shed ever tasted, and better yet it didnt upset her stomach!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I recently got this product through my vox box and I couldn't be more happy with the product. I gave it to my dog slowly and it looked like he loved it! Cleaned his dish each time. I loved having the information on how to feed the new food to him too. Very helpful for people who are not familiar with how their pet has to have new food slowly introduced. I really loved how he got a new taste for bison now, so that was super interesting to introduce to his diet since bison is a bit more leaner.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Its good dog food, my dog ate it all and seemed to be really enjoying it. He is a picky eater and wont eat food if he doesnt like it or like his last food better (dramatic I know). However I am taking a star off for two reasons, the first being the whole ancient grain thing feels gimmicky and the higher price doesnt feel worthy of it. If your dog loves it, then go for it but otherwise I would stick to the fried and true. I received this product for free from Influenster to try.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Both my dogs have gone nuts over this food. We have trouble with our boy because hes incredibly picky and doesnt always finish his meals, but Im happy to report he has no problem finishing every last bite of this food (huge plus in my book). I will say, this is pricy, but you are paying for cleaner ingredients compared to most kibbles on the market and lets be real ... this is a member(s) of your family; They deserve the best too! They have several flavors to choose from and I have a feeling even the pickiest of dogs wont have a problem finding a flavor they love. I do also want to make note that safety of foods is huge - they have had one recall (in 2012) due to possible salmonella contamination, but nothing before or after that report that i found. I took off one star because I do wish they sold a larger size bag; The largest size bag (28 lbs) is a little smaller than majority of other brands on the market and with a higher price tag for less product. Overall, this food is a win in my opinion and i feel good about feeding this to my two four legged family members. I received this product complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Four stars because my dogs loved this (but honestly they love anything). Ingredients are okay, better than products like beneful or kibbles n bits; but I wouldnt go out of my way to buy this. As a vet tech I personally believe in dog foods that have SCIENCE BACK ingredients. Im not one of these people who anthropomorphize my pet care and pet food. I just havent seen enough science or research behind taste of the wilds dog foods to really push me to consider the brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My boy loved this food!! One big perk of this food is the smell and odor is not overwhelming like several other foods I have used with my fur baby. Also, my dog did not seem to have any tummy troubles while trying this food out. I also read all the nutrition facts on the food and it had pretty good ingredients. Packaging of the food was great. I would recommend this product to others. I received this product complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My dog loves Ancient Prairie Canine My dog has been eating Ancient Prairie Canine for about 2 years. He was eating Wild Prairie prior to switching. He likes it. His fur is shiny and skin is healthy. His groomer has made comments about him not having dry skin flakes after being groomed which many other dogs have. It wasn't like this before I started feeding him Taste of Wild. I think it is a great food and helps him stay healthy. I am very pleased with all Taste of Wild products.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love that it has simple ingredients, that are natural for my pup. Plus, he seemed to really enjoy it. I will say he had a little upset tummy after trying it the first time, but that happens anytime you switch dog foods. On the second feeding however, he had no bad reactions to the food. We didnt receive a large enough sample to really tell any signs/benefits of the food. But I can say for sure that he loved every bite while it lasted!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I have two large breed spoiled babies. I fed one of the sample bags to each of my dogs. One of my dogs, a Doberman, is a picky eater and he started to eat his food but didnt finish it. I also noticed that the food didnt sit well with his stomach. My other dog had no issues with this dog food. Because I wont be buying two different kinds of dog food, its a no-go from me. What a shame, I was hoping this would work out based on the formula!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Puppy Loves It! My last dog had a chicken allergy and was on the Sierra Mountain grain-free recipe. He loved it! i now have a new puppy and wanted to keep him on a grain inclusive diet since he has no issue with them, and the rising concern about grain free diets. I was super excited to see the Ancient Grains line come out when I was picking up puppy essentials. He loves it! Always excited for his food, eats it right up, and healthy poops so it's a win!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I received this complimentary sample for reviewing purposes from Influenster. My two goldendoodles seemed to love this dog food. When I filled their bowls, they both gobbled it up immediately. They obviously loved the taste, and it didnt seem to upset their stomachs, as sometimes trying new dog food can do. The ingredients looked great, and the dogs loved it, so I would definitely consider purchasing a bag in the near future.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Ive been purchasing solely Taste of the Wild food for my dog since he was a puppy. We tried so many sampler bags at first but this was the only brand he enjoyed. Hes super picky with food and is not interested in most treats but he SCARFED this flavor down! I received this product free for reviewing purposes and my dog instantly went crazy over the package before I even opened it. This will definitely be our new go to flavor!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Name is Misleading I always fed my dogs TOW grain-free, then when studies showed a diet with grains may be better I was glad to see TOW developed a product with quality grains. I made the switch and dogs love it. I took off 1 star because the bag says Bison & Venison. A better name might be Buffalo and Bacon because the main ingredients are Buffalo and Pork. Bison and Venison are way down the list as the 8th and 9th ingredient.
Date published: 2020-04-18
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well my pets certainly went crazy over this food. Both dogs ate it as soon as it hit the bowl which doesnt always happen. Even the cat tried to get a nibble, much to my dogs dislike! I like the ingredients in the food, though I have heard about some negative affects of this type of food for dogs. Research is inconclusive though, so its hard to say. The price is about the same as other high end dog food brands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lucy was very excited to get to try this food courtesy of Influenster. I was wondering how I would be able to judge how much she liked the food, but I can tell you she absolutely loved it and from looking at the bag it seems like a great food with quality ingredients. She seemed interested in the bag even before I opened it. I gave her a small amount in her bowl to try to see how much she likes it. She ate it pretty quickly. I put the opened bag and the unopened bag up on the kitchen table. The following day I came home from work and noticed she had something in her mouth. When I tried to grab it from her she ran all over the house and wouldn't give it to me. When I finally was able to grab it from her I realized she was carrying around an empty food bag. She had opened the second bag of food herself and eaten it all!! Now if that isn't a five star review I don't know what is!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Both of my Aussies love it! I mixed a small portion in with their regular food, and both of them picked out the Taste of the Wild pieces and scarfed them down. They can be picky eaters, but they love this food. I would recommend this to pet owners who are looking for a natural alternative to over-processed pet foods. Rated 4 out of 5 by from My dog absolutely loved this! Were big believers in grain in my house so I was pretty excited to try this out. We started just giving as treats and worked our way into eating the second bag by itself and my dog, Sid absolutely loved it. He usually eats purina but Id definitely consider switching to this. The only thing I didnt like about it is that it smells absolutely terrible.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Our dog 40lb Pit Bull/Australian Shepherd didn't take to it well, even when mixing with her normal food in small portions, but she is a fairly picky eater. So, we decided to try it out as treats for our 10 week old mini potbelly and kunekune big and he absolutely love it. It's funny because only then did our dog even try to eat it. Now both animals love it but only as treats.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All 3 of my dogs love this food. My 2 boys arent picky at all but my female dog gets bored easily and will just stop eating at random. But not with this food! We did switch up to the lamb formula and she stopped eating it within a week, switched back to this and shes eating again. For me, I love it because if the high quality ingredients and its a good price for the quality!
Date published: 2020-05-08
Rated 3 out of 5 by from It was a good product. A little dry, not really my taste although my dog seemed to enjoy it. She'll eat just about anything so that's not the best indicator. I'm not sure how to tell if this made a difference. I don't feel like the sample was enough to be able to tell. It didn't spoil her and make her stop eating her usual food so I don't know that it wowed her too much.

Hi what is the calcium and phosphorus % and why is it not listed in the general analysis? Calcium is important in large breed puppies, too much calcium can cause rapid bone growth.

Asked by: Bethany
Hello, and thanks for reaching out. Our Ancient Prairie Canine Recipe contains 1.2% calcium and 1.0% phosphorus, both on an as-fed basis. Please know, by AAFCO regulations, the guaranteed analysis is only required to list four nutrients: crude protein, crude fat, crude fiber and moisture, which is why our calcium and phosphorus levels are not listed. I have 2 mixed breeds, 60 lbs each. One has a sensitive stomach. What dog food would be the best for them?

Asked by: Mom to 4
Hello, and thanks for reaching out. While we do not have any recipes formulated specifically for dogs with sensitive stomachs, you may consider trying our limited ingredient diet, Taste of the Wild PREY. Our PREY formulas can be great options for pets with sensitivities due to their limited ingredients. Each formula contains no more than four key ingredients (one animal protein source, sunflower oil, tomato pomace and lentils). We also recommend consulting with your veterinarian to determine the best diet for your dogs, based on their needs.

Ancient grains I would like to change up to another acient grain instead of feeding the dog same bag all the time. Do I have to slowly introduce new bag over time or can I start feeding right out of the bag? currently feeding Prairie Love it

Asked by: Chris
Hello and thanks for reaching out! Many pets enjoy eating more than one Taste of the Wild recipe. To avoid digestive upset, we recommend limiting your rotation to two recipes and gradually mixing foods over 7-10 days. When you transition between recipes, slowly reduce the amount of the old recipe and increase the new recipe.
